If he scores 35-40 he could legitimately ask for Brady salary couldn't he?

Bet he hears cash register noises instead of the goal horn every time he scores lol.

If he scores 40 he's getting more than Brady. 35 and it will likely be on par.

Such a good player.

Completely disgaree. Love Norris, but he is no where near as multi-dimensional as Tkachuk and Batherson. Excellent scoring, and good defensively, but stops there. He's not getting over 7, imo. If he scores 40, 7.5 max.

I’m just going to be a hater at this point because he keeps scoring And that’s good.
LOL.

Yes he might have flaws like all players but I mean the hardest thing to do in the NHL is score and he does that with ease.

Just enjoy the fact we are going to have a 40 goal scorer on the team. When is the last time we had someone score even 30? Spezza?

A 40 goal scorer? I gotta admit, as with Brann, Norris has me recalculating like the GPS in my car when i miss a turn. But 40 goal scorer? Im still missing that turn. But keep it going, im persuadable. That would be awesome

He's on pace for 46 goals in an 82 game season right now so it's not exactly an outlandish possibility.

I know but for some reason im having a hard believing it's for real and not some Duclair or Brian Savage start, or some amazing Mike Fisher hot streak. But that line is so good. I should be able to believe it but for some reason i just cant believe my eyes yet.

The thing is even if Norris has an average or bad game he will still be a threat to score because he is the primary shooter on the 1st line and 1st PP unit playing with guys who fit his style well. And on the power play the entire play is to get it to Norris for a one time.

So it makes him a little hard to predict. I mean if Batherson is dropped from his lines I bet Norris goal totals drop substantially.

Is that a true 1st line, 40 goal talent?

Batherson was gone for a few games cause of covid and what not and Norris' play was significantly less notable.

We have to be wary how much we spend on Norris; 7x7 is very fair.

Even when he has the puck on PP, he wavers with it-- and many times is the one to lose it when in cycle and pressured.

Norris is an excellent trigger man, and he’s a good defensive player as well. He is big and strong and a top flight athlete. He is perfect in his role, on this line, with other g it a who are similarly perfect. He’ll get Bath money because he brings a similar impact to Bath in my opinion.

I think Norris will hit 30 goals for sure this season, 40 goals and I will be really shocked and proud as a fan to have 40 goal scorer, scoring 40 goals no one can call you anything other than a number 1 center.

his 8 assists are kind of concerning tho.

Almost 20 goals in 32 games for Norris. I don't see a single thing concerning with that stat line.

It might be earlier in this thread but I had looked up his games and going back to last season he doesn't have many stretches where he goes 3+ games without a goal.

He is now having multi-goal games with more regularity as well. The kid just has, "it" when it comes to scoring and he isn't 1 dimensional either. He gets to the net and scores ugly goals to compliment his 1-timer goals.

7 x 7 would be nice but stats are king and if he puts up 40-ish goal season things will get spicy. Especially because he would have had a better statistical season than when Brady and Suzuki signed their contracts.

One thing to note is that scoring is crazy high this season, game hasn't been this open in a long time. Pretty sure there are 50+ players pacing for PPG including like 10 defenceman. That's crazy and hopefully gets priced in.

While Josh's goals are up his assists are way down, would be nice to see him start making some plays too, but it's obvious they are looking to feed his big shot.

I can't be the only one terrified that Norris asks for Brady money based on a season where he's shooting over 20% right? Assuming he is truly one of the best finishers in the league, his stats adjusted for a more realistic S% of 15% put him on pace for ~33G, ~20A for around 53pts. Great but not over 8M dollars a year great. He's not the primary driver of offence on his line (which isn't necessarily a bad thing) but I firmly believe if we pay him any more than 7.25M on a long-term deal, it ends up being a pretty big overpayment. It would also make it super difficult to negotiate a reasonable deal with Stu if he lights it up next year.

If he does end up cashing in big time, it's not the end of the world because Batherson's absolute steal of a deal will end up outweighing the slight overpayment for Brady + whatever Norris signs for. As others mentioned, if he keeps up this insane pace and cracks 40, Norris will retire an extremely wealthy man.

It is concerning how much Norris (and Brady) can fade without Batherson. They need a guy who can make the plays so they can play a simple gritty game, which is what they excel at.

Thats how the line works.

Tkachuk is the grit and net presence, Norris is a shooter, Batherson makes the plays.

Stutzle and Batherson may be fun but you need someone better than Sanford to take Drake’s position.

I think everyone is hoping for around $7 million as a ceiling.

That is called "a nice problem to have".

Norris is going to get a massive raise no matter what.

I try not to worry about it. I've been bitching about Dorion the last few days but he got Brady signed to a long term deal, he'll get Norris signed.
