I don't care if I get called a pessimist for this but I do get the feeling Norris will get injured long term again as soon as he plays a full contact game. Whether this is on training staff or just Norris' shoulder being "unfixable" I don't know, but I don't foresee him having a full career in the NHL. I truly hope I'm wrong here.

I mean, I assume the latest "tweak" was in the context of a non-competitive (at least professionally) non-contact situation.

How it will stand up to 82 games of pummeling and draws is still very much concerning to me.

I hurt my shoulder pretty bad slamming it on the ocean floor in a bodysurfing situation and the doctor told me that I was very lucky not to have broken or dislocated it. I had a massive bruise from a large amount of internal bleeding that drained all the way down my chest.

He said I missed much more serious damage by a matter of a couple of centimeters.

"So, I'll be ok?"

"Oh, no, no. You'll run into issues when you're older. There's some scarring there and pretty much everyone injures their shoulder at some point because it's the most complex and therefore most vulnerable joint in the human body."

The idea that Josh Norris ever gets back to 0 on the injury prone front is a pipe dream.
Yup, shoulders are no joke. I hurt my shoulder just sleeping on the damn couch about 4 months ago and it's still giving me issues. I'm doing physio now, but they told me not to play hockey until they approve it or I'll just make it worse and may end up with chronic pain in the area.

We have to get this into DSM-VI . Ottawa Senators Fandom Induced PTSD

I had surgery on my shoulder 5 months ago. Lost out on all my summer sports. Now fall hockey has started. I’m told next month I should be GTG, I hope it holds up! My golf game definitely will suffer though lol

My father had surgery on both his shoulders.

He still golfs but it's obviously not at 100%. He's happy to have the range of mobility that he does at his age.

A shoulder moves (when healthy) in many different directions though, so it is complex from that perspective. I'm not trying to get into a big debate, just adding a little perspective.

This is kind of what he was getting that, as it has the highest range of motion IIRC.

Shoulders are pretty amazing when you think of how many different ways & directions they can move. Its some fantastic genetic engineering that's somehow happened that has often got me wondering how all this managed to happen & pontificating deep topics.

Did I miss something? I don't think I heard or read "tweaked" and "shoulder" together. He could've stubbed his toe yet we're starting back on to how the Senators have some kind of team medical problem with shoulders that's nonsense in the first place

I read it was a groin injury suffered during physicals.

I understand you sentiment but its waaaaay too early to predict that Norris will not have a full career. He's only 24 years old

Pinto came back after his shoulder issue and looked fine. Norris will do the same; they're being extra cautious with him plus the Ottawa media needs something to work with. Dorion's awkward wording also doesn't help.

According to DJ, The yellow jersey is just to let the other players out there know not to hit him hard.

That’s a good plan. Now just have to send the memo to the other teams.

Don’t think they said which shoulder, and even the tweak was weirdly stated.
“It’s nothing serious. If we were playing two days from now, he’d play. I think it’s just that we’re being extra cautious to make sure we have him at 100%. He’s a big part of our team and we know he’s going to be a big part of us having success.

“So, it is (the shoulder) and it’s kind of related (to the injury), but not really related. He was taking contact and everything. We’re just being extra cautious here. Let’s make sure he gets in all of D.J. practices here. He gets ready, he gets acclimatized.

“That’s why we’re doing this. It’s very, very minor.”

This quote from Dorion is somehow reassuring and worrisome at the same time.

PD missed his calling as a politician as he can talk in circles without really saying anything.

Kind-of-related-but-not-really-related to his prior injury? Norris's surgery was likely to repair stretched or torn ligaments. I imagine the latest injury could have been a muscle or tendon strain around the shoulder that could expose the shoulder to hyper-extension if not fully healed and put in a compromising position again. That's the only way I would buy D.J.'s explanation.

Norris has re-injured the same shoulder twice though hasn't he? And it sounds like he tweaked it again.

Tweaking is not an issue. Every single one of these players gets tweaks and pains; it's the nature of the sport.
If his shoulder isn't in need for any new surgeries, he'll be ready to go. Bumps along the way are expected.

Tweaking is absolutely an issue when it comes to recurring shoulder injury.

Norris will be ready to go because he’s fine, except he tweaked it so he won’t play for a bit, but he could, except when I found out more it was complicated, and it’s the shoulder but it’s also not really the shoulder but it is - anyway I’m not a doctor.
- Pierre Dorion, 1000 words when 100 would do.

That’s kind of how I heard it too. He’s not hood at being evasive lol
