C-Bus bought flexibility with the Fabbro waiver claim.

Only way I might see the Oil being in on Jiricek is in a two fer deal with Provorov. Pay the price to secure their D upgrade with a veteran expiring deal along with a pedigree quality future player. Flip the 1st round C-Bus is reported looking for Provorov and package Akey and second round pick(s) for a closer to NHL ready Jiricek.

Though I think C-Bus will get better offers for Jiricek if they decide to move off him. They likely also want NHL ready return vs lottery tickets.
I don’t think the Oilers have the assets to pull off a two fer and I think Waddell knows he’s better off dealing those two individually.

I could see Provorov on his own being a potential Oilers deadline target. Someone they should have their eye on at least.

Indirectly kind of my point. Jiricek won't be given away despite the hope. He's also not an ideal fit for Edmonton who need to upgrade the current D. Provorov who I view as a realistic target and a real good fit is a tough buy as an expiring contract which the Oilers can't afford to do if he is a one and done acquisition (though premature to define him as such).

A long shot, low likelihood scenario is how I should have more clearly articulated in my post. However if as reported Donny Wad is targeting a 1st for Provorov this is the chat I'd float with him.

You think he will able to match Toews defensively. Perhaps your chasing the wrong elephant there.
No, I don't think he'll match Toews but he'll be a top four defenseman who will break out after being had for much less than what he winds up playing to value wise in the future.

Fabbro has a 30% DFF with CBJ so far against elite comp. Toews is on another planet defensively.
Yes but Toews never had to play on a team at the bottom of the standings. He gets to play with the Avs' top players. We'll see how he does from now until the deadline, and how he looks on a contender if he's traded

Connor Murphy is a potential trade target apparently. He has another yr on his contract with Chicago. Imo, he's the most important player on their team not named Bedard. He's the only dman on the team with a positive +/-, which I always find quite impressive, on a basement team. He's a prized target for many GM's. At 31, he's right in his prime and perfect for the win-now window. He's an RD, and the absolute perfect partner for Nurse. Give Darnell a partner like Connor Murphy, and watch Doc take off

But the #1 priority is a starting goaltender, hands down. Stuart Skinner is a back-up, we need someone like Blackwood, Binnington, heck, even old man Fleury would be an upgrade in net. Almost any starting experienced goaltender in the league would immediately this team

Connor is coming up to the end of his prime though he would probably be highly motivated this year and next with a trade if we aren't on his 10 team no trade.
Chicago isnt likely as highly motivated by draft capital as some others as they will have a high first and a later 1st plus 2 seconds as well. Connor really doesn't fit Chicago's window either.
But he likely gets the job done for a couple of years. What would you pay for him? Do you want Chicago to retain?
Further fixing your D might be a better option than a high end starter. Yes you need someone the management will trust more than Pickard. You do need someone that could go 2 and 2 with Stuart.
