Kent hasn't learned when to sell high yet.
Allen, Anderson, Toffoli...
Anderson is basically going to follow the Matt Moulson route to finish off his career..

In couple years the Anderson, Dvorak, Gallagher types be off the team. Hughes will be able to replace them with the Newhook, Dach, Guhle, Beck types. We see good team then.

Right now those contacts are unmovable. Holding us back. But nothing we can do right now.

The only unmovable contract is Gally. You can trade Dvorak next year at 50%. Multiple team have show interest at Anderson last year. He could have traded him in the last TDL. Now we are stuck with 2 unmovable contract.

Seriously, he is going to regret not trading him last year. His value declined so hard this year. He had a good season and we could have traded for a first round pick in 2023-2024.
No way to know if a 1st was offered. And if it involved retention it would require more than a 1st.

To be fair, Anderson's decline (if we can call it that) does not seem to be physical, does it?

I think there might be some truth in the claim that he is not fit for the slightly more diverse style of play MSL is trying to push him towards. So maybe he's not a lost cause if we change the approach.

Once his legs are gone, though, it's over. He doesn't have the head nor the skating balance to play a more cerebral game.

I would have gladly take a second round pick or a young prospect for him last year. Ylonen need more ice time. Roy is coming up next year. 2024 first round pick. I hope he improve and finish the season strong.

No team would have had cap room for Anderson. With retention it would have required a 1st and prospect for HuGo to not hang up. Jean-nothing went to Tampa for 5 picks. His cap hit was nothing for 22-23 but a similar player in Anderson should be worth at least a 1st +.

The retention is too much right now... we are stuck for the next 2 years for sure.

mmm lots of people here wanted to keep him for the whole rebuild...power forwards very often break down by 30ish is why I wanted him gone...but instead he just isn't playing like a power forward anymore lol
And I remember a shit tone of people wanting to trade for him back in the day as well. Never really lived up to the hype this board was giving him.

I can't beleive it, Drouin have 3 more goals than Anderson so far this season.
On the animal knowlegde I learn that a scary chipmunk is better than a donkey.

It's getting to PowerMonkey status where players are glad to get him off their back line but also feel bad for their teammate

MSL is keeping him on PP1 until he breaks his curse but I don't see how Anderson can salvage this season, just getting some confidence back will be a tall order

Hey guys, had a dream last night Anderson scored a goal.
It was a Gallagher mad scramble keep-a-pokin-till-it-dribbles-in type of goal.
In his exuberant goal celebration he tried to take off his jersey but it got stuck....
Next game, in Columbus, I'm betting the house he scores....retirement here I come! :sarcasm:

Marty's strategy of playing Anderson on PP1 has backfired in a massive way. The amount of pressure on Anderson needs to be lessened. Play him on the 4th line with Evans. He then plays against other 4th liners and this could help him get out of his funk. With every minute he plays on PP1 without producing it hurts his confidence.

Honestly, I blame St louis for thinking he was the guy who'd solve the case of josh Anderson and filling his pretty little head with fanciful stories of 'passing' and 'turning'. These new, invasive ideas have pushed out the few concepts Andy had already mastered, such as 'skate in straight line' and 'shoot puck'.
You think there’s a difference in how he’s playing? I don’t see it. Only difference is that he is incredibly snake bit.

His fancy stay numbers are actually better than last year by a fair bit.
