Looks like the advanced stats match the eye test. He’s an anchor.

He's a player that can only live in a N-S grinding playstyle. Unless you're re-hiring Michou, guy is useless to us.
He's not grinding hard enough it's kind of his problem honestly. Not sure Michou would like him in the long term. He more often than not looks like Rene Bourque on the ice. People often forget in his prime Bourque was 20-30 goals / 40-50 points scorer.

When he joined the habs he was the same age JS is now. Bourque was 29 when he joined and JS is 29 this season.

Yes, but regression and age map differently for different plyers.

Bourque was never good from the time he joined the Habs until later on.

I refuse to believe that, he can't be that clueless...
In 2020, Josh Anderson sat in the press box recuperating from a shoulder injury as the Columbus Blue Jackets upset the Toronto Maple Leafs in the play-in round of the postseason. The year before that the Blue Jackets pulled off a stunning upset of the Tampa Bay Lightning, where Jon Cooper remarked that he had no answer for Anderson’s style of play.
“Some players get you to the playoffs, others help you in the playoffs”…

Habs sure could use a consistent Josh Anderson. A 20 goal guy with alot of unique intangibles.
Need to keep in mind 11 games have been played, season is still very young….

Anderson is a very very frustrating player…. if one doesn’t keep mindful he’s a 22-25G big body north / south type w elite speed, particularly strong at transition game, one falls into the trap of expecting a high end power forward which he never ever be - and those expectations will unnecessarily lead to irrational disappointment

Even if you think that he's some sort of playoffs beast, we are in a rebuild, he should have been traded...

he's just having a really bad start. i still think he'd start capitalizing on his chances soon.

we've seen players get hot right off the bat and cool down.

Consistent and Josh Anderson does not compute

Lets be honest, he is a better skating, worse defensive, north American version of Yoelle Armia
Anderson wish to have Armia's skillset. Anderson's stick/puck handling is at the peewee level.

Fun fact. Anderson still hasn't had a better season than Armia as Hab. 0.52 vs 0.46 PPG. Even though he's gotten significantly more EV&PP TOI every year. If Armia got his career year role back he would wipe the f***ing floor with Josh the Dumb and no one would cry about his 3M contract.

Too busy to login and comment so far this year. But 1 point in 11 games is not good enough. He needs to go while he has a semblance of value

Anderson scored at a pace of 32 goals and 55 points over 82 games, last year after RHP was called up. A lot of those points were generated playing with RHP.

So, to me, to try to get Anderson going, we have to play him with RHP. I hope Slaf works with Cole and Nick. So that leaves the following:

Caufield - Suzuki - Slaf
Pearson - Monahan - Gallagher
RHP - Newhook - Anderson
Evans - Dvo - Ylonen/Armia
Pez

To me this is obvious, even if Newhook is at C. May have to wait for injuries or the vet line to not play well.

What? Armia and Anderson are nothing alike other than being big and RHS.

The differences in skating, puck handling, board play, and defensive play make them entirely different players.

I think he’s been asked to change his game and he’s not capable of doing so. He plays a N-S game and it is engrained within him. Joel Armia is a much more skilled but unfortunately just as ineffective player.

Hopefully BJA gets hot again but he really needs to move to somewhere more stable for him system-wise… as much as it would hurt Kent Hughes to trade away his former client.

How long before Anderson scores his first goal?

That old saying...if you ain't scoring you need to provide something else to help the team such as playing well defensively, punishing body checks and sticking up for teammates.

When he score in his own net...so probably tonight at the speed things are going.
