Looking back, you really have to appreciate the Maestro's foresight and gambling instincts in trading for Anderson after he was injured for a whole season. What a genius move. Bergevin the shark smelled blood and got him when his value was at its lowest, like any skilled GM would execute expertly, which he did.

I think his value is probably lowest right now lol

Not sure Josh Anderson brings enough to warrant his salary.
I will say however he has improved his play in some areas such as passing, skating with the puck. Nothing game changing but some aspects of his game have improved.

He should benefit from having puck moving D who should be able to hit him with a pass now.......we need to utilize his speed more......
As for salary, we have probably 10 guys on our team who do not earn their keep....sad state of affairs.
The future certainly looks brighter on that front too.............we are slowly getting there.

He's not as useless as many in this thread make him out to be. But... he's not as valuable as others have said either. I think there might be some teams who could overpay.

As much as I like somebody with size to go with Zuki and CC, there are others who can do the job. I'd be fine with dealing him but only for strong futures.

Id be fine with a 2nd or prospect and cap relief. And take dro dro and his matching salary as well.

He's better (less predictive at least) this year. With the number of rookies on the team I don't think his cap hit will be a problem for the next 3 years and we will need that kind of player during those years to ease in rookies.

Ideally the rest of the roster would be good enough so Anderson is on the 3rd line (it's not his fault we're using him in the top6). Anderson is the perfect winger/bodyguard for a rookie elite forward that you play on the 3rd line and don't want to see get Beagled.

Probably top 5 in the most frustrated player to watch play. The guy has it all. You'd describe what you want out of a power forward, it's him.

And yet....pout, pout, pout....

I like Anderson, don’t think hes bad as some say or as great as others so just curious…who are comparable players at that salary?

also keep in mind when that deal was signed, ie not entry level or 2nd contract, covering UFA years

I think COVID and flat cap played bigger roles. Im convinced the same player with the same stats signs for a larger contract in 2019.

No he is missing one thing to be an impact power forward : he can‘t shoot.

Also I don‘t think people should want power forwards, they should want players who defend well and people who score, since the goal is to win games. Anderson does neither well, and his contract is just bad. Now it does not mean that a GM won‘t bite because he lloves big boys…

Moving him is not a priority because he still does have some excellent tools, but he's definitely someone who should be trade bait. Unlike some of our other bad contracts he actually has value.

He doesn't completely suck and his size will still sucker plenty of DMs.

So if you guys really want to tank - unload all the large contracts hoffman. anderson, gallagher, sooner the better

No one will touch Hoffman or Gallagher; Anderson could be sold... hopefully after a hot streak. But if the Habs don't think they have a superior option to replace him, they will keep him. We have a lot of contracts coming off the books this year: Monahan, Dadanov, Drouin, Byron.

I've said it this past summer and I'll say it again. Kent Hughes needs to act fast and should look to trade him. I don't care he's big and can protect the kids. He's getting paid way too much for way to long and this will become problematic very soon.

When he's on he's fun to watch but he's way too inconsistent.

Really funny reading all this now. This past summer most people on this board were arguing he was part of the core LMAO.

He's a decent 2nd line power forward, nothing more. Which is fine. But if we can get a first or good RD/G prospect, you have to do it.

I may have said this summer that I liked Lehkonen more than Anderson. Or. Even. That he is superior overall.

Unless Price does come back. Then we're f***ed
