Well, FWIW, Hughws wants to trade him.

I don't disagree.

He's a PF in his prime, and we're nowhere near contending.

He will fetch a HUGE return.

We should trade him...... but NOT because he sucks... because he's a valuable asset in his prime that does no good for us as we won't be contending for many years when he will be past his prime.

Hughes said he would take a pick for him, and he used the singular when he said it. in response to whether he wanted a prospect for Anderson, he said or a pick.

I think if that had been on the table, Anderson would have been moved. But it hasn't been.

He'll have to put up serious numbers to get a lottery pick.

Yeah.... well, top 10...top 15..... that would all be good.

Top 10 is the dream though.

Some contender could be ready to pony up, if, as you say.. has a good year.

I've love to get a top 10 pick for him...
Top 10 pick.... in what round?! Surely you don't mean the 1st.

He's got zero hockey IQ. Did you see what he did at the end of the game last night? It was hilarious.

He also has 9 points in 32 playoff games with Montreal. No contending team is giving a 1st round pick for a player that isn't going to help in the playoffs for that much money. And any non-playoff contender isn't trading for that contract.

In the off season he jumped at any opportunity to say publicly that Josh Anderson was available, even saying the price is a prospect or a pick.
There's very few players Hughes wouldn't trade without a massive overpayment. Anderson isn't one of them.

Yes if someone want to overpay he will do it but he won’t do it for anything less then a massive overpayment and I’m not sure someone will this season

The way he keeps bringing up his name in the media we know he wants to move him. I don't know why you deduce there must be an overpayment.

We saw with the McDonagh, Pacioretty and Burns trades, that big contracts don't fetch big returns. Now, those three players are different ages than Amderson. But Hughes has been saying all along that there isn't a market for big contracts. Pittsburgh even had to give up Matheson to get Petry. Matheson's big contract only had so much value, and we know Petry's didn't have much value, like McDonagh, Pacioretty amd Burns.

Because every Insider who have talk to other GM said that the ask for Anderson was enormous. Of course he will try to upgrade the value of his player in PC.

If he really wanted to trade him he would be already gone like Petry and Toffoli

McDonagh/Burns/Pacioretty teams really needed to move those players because of cap reasons. That’s not the case with the Habs and Anderson.

I think he isn't gone yet because he's waiting for a good offer, not a massive overpayment. And the good offers just aren't there. I think if he moves, it will end up being more like the Petry for Matheson deal where we take back another big contract, than the Toffoli for futures deal.

No reason to make a deal like the Petry one for Anderson. Keep Anderson at that price

We'll see how Hughes sees things...Anderson hasn't found his spot on the team. I'm not sure where to use someone that struggles to make plays with his linemates and isn't very good defensively.

He does have an important spot in that team. Nobody (not even in our prospect pool) bring what he brings to the teams and he seem to be a great leader in the lockeroom what we will need with a young team

If he can stick with Suzuki and Caufield without hindering them offensively, great. If not, he'll have trouble on a shutdown line and will also hinder the second line offensively because he has trouble making plays with his linemates. We'll see...

Not every good team needs or has what Anderson brings because his skill set is overrated. A straight line big man that can drive the net with zero IQ. There’s plenty of leaders on the team and at this point asset management outweighs feelings or how cool he is in the room

Have you ever played competitive hockey ?? If you don’t understand how valuable is a type of player like Anderson or how tough it is to play against a player like him, I don’t know what to tell you...

I’m on hockey db if you’re going to ask lol. Yeah it’s super hard to play against a defensive liability who is swimming and is constantly out of position what a STUD. Oh and that passing! He’s even a better passer than Gallagher what a feat! There’s a reason why Columbus traded him for Domi which I think it was a fair trade except his contract ruins it for the habs. He’s worth 3.5 max. He’s not valuable. If he were so valuable he’d stay and be part of the rebuild lol I’m sorry I agree with management here. Is this Josh Anderson?

He's not valuable? Think you lose your credibility there.......every Dman going back for a puck when he is coming for them, disagree with you also.....
He does alot of good things when not scoring......is he a great defensive winger, not really but then that's not what he is advertising...... and I don't think anyone has ever said he is great in his own end.....not to mention guys like MSL can teach that part of the game.

Seems crazy but he might just be 2 years too old for our rebuild and would be a great asset to dangle to get us something big in return.......the trade deadline does crazy things to other GM's after what haul we got last year for our guys who supposedly zero value!!

No he’s not good defensively. Last night was a prime example on I think was the first goal when he didn’t tie up his man or use his frame. I agree he’s a good forechecker though

That’s exactly what they are doing too, he’s still here and he’s not in the Hoffman/Drouin/Dadonov/Armia list that they actively looking to move
