Really? Sparks had much better AHL stats and track record than Woll's current AHL season.

Sparks had a much better team in front of him and then went to a team that left him (and other backups) out to dry under Babcock. He also a much better goalie coach, not that you can say anything too negative about Elkin. Piero Greco is just excellent.

Woll was always better than his numbers, especially in his 2nd and 3rd year. Moore's defensive structure in front of him was atrocious, and he was left out to dry. Now he still gave up some weak goals, like he did often in his first year, but they were progressively cut out as the years went on. Rebound control also improved a lot. His past two years, his save percentage could have easily been 20 basis points higher with any kind of solid defense in front of him, and he proved that this year (and the Marlies team was patchworked for most of the year no less).

The thing about Woll is that he has never really had the luxury of playing behind a good team since probably his draft year. World Juniors he had some good teams, but they weren't particularly strong defensively. He was consistently one of BC's best players with very little talent in front of him, and he was the main reason why they won games. And then he went to a Marlies squad that has had some really rough years under Moore... So I guess the transition to a good defense has been very smooth even though the level of competition is higher.

Sparks was the opposite. Went from a very well-structured and strong team under Keefe in the AHL to Babcock's defensive structure which left a lot to be desired in comparison (even though the personnel wasn't nearly as bad).

This is great. LMFAO

Dude your sourness emanates off the screen.

Lou might have low key made an amazing pick, give him credit.
I have literally always given him credit for what he did well. Not my fault it’s very limited. He’s always had an eye for goalies, which generally saves his bacon almost everywhere he goes (helps some overlook a ton of warts). That’s why I have always given him full marks on Andersen and hopefully Woll. Outside of that, the best I can say for his body of work was that he didn’t mess up the painfully obvious (Matthews, Liljegren). You may impress easier than me?

Structure may be a part but 5 years ago the D personnel (regardless of structure) was just generally weak. Miles better today.

Mr. Clean, so Tidy in there just spotless just soaking up all that dirty Florida pond scum trash shots. Wish we had him in the whole playoffs after that beastly performance. Beaaast!

Would love to see him go on one of those lightning in a bottle runs. Back on April 17 he was my pick for Conn Smythe. I went a touch off the board. Lol

Woll said several times, he believes in this team. I believe it when he says it, its a bit different from him , its not cliche at all. He is the future goalie of this team, is how it appears.

He was excellent handling the puck tonight, that really stood out tonight.
It does indeed. Can't count on anything of course when it comes to goalies but damn, the kid looks good. The way he talks to the media leaves me with that warm and fuzzy feeling as well, like the kid can handle the pressure in this town. Maybe he could give Marner some pointers on how to talk to people.

Yep, I’ve said all along we should have started the playoffs with him. Sure he didn’t have much of a resume but what he had was fantastic. Go with the hot hand goalies are voodoo after all. If he is having a lights out season just go with it. Murray is a great example, had a great couple of seasons and then meh. Too bad we may have missed that type of season with Woll.

Woll has showed A LOT of potential but let's calm down a little bit he's played which isn't much but it's even less when those 10 games are split across 2 seasons

F'in near buddy.
Yeah well that's why it will be my last bet .. officials with nhl game management program finding phantom penalties to make games close .. folks never ever bet it is a losing proposition and why all these ads for nhl betting are everywhere .. betting sites are making a fortune and it does nothing for our Leafs (probably all goes to southern us teams where hockey is at best a minor pro deal)
