What’s the big hype around Harris? People care so much if he signs or not but like is he really that good?
He's very likely a bottom pairing defenseman with incredible poise with the puck, smooth skating, and he's a good leader/character kid.

Chances are there he could be a 2nd pairing defenseman as well who quarterbacks the PP.

I honestly see him as a very good no.5 for the Habs. Depth chart wise, the eventual 3LD after Guhle and Romanov. But he has the ability to anchor a pairing if he keeps developing well. All pieces necessary for building a competitive team.

He's also played at RHD many times over this stint in the NCAA. So there will be flexibility to move him around the pairings.

Does this mean he signs for 2 years burns 1 this year and then after next is a RFA?

Harris if he signs with us, which I assume he does, would sign a 3 year ELC but it will start this year so it burns a year off his ELC. He's 21 so he would have to sign a 3 year ELC, if he waits till August 15th, he would be 22 and it would be a 2 year ELC.

Season is over now for Harris. Hopefully, he's gonna sign in a near future with habs and we will have the opportunity to watch him until the end of this season in the NHL.

So basically, it's doesn't matter for him IF he would decide to test the Free agency route.

If he signs the contract tomorrow, his first nhl game will probably be next Thursday versus Carolina

I would get him in immediately. Then limit his minutes next year and get him on a cheapo 3-4 year deal and then increase his minutes.

If he really is a lefty RD, I'd pair him with Edmundson and see how he looks.

Romanov - Savard
Edmundson - Harris

Would be nice if Habs can get lucky and he ends up having a John Marino type impact.

Curious to see Harris play. He’s got a pretty good all around game so I think bottom pairing at worst. Does have the potential to be more than that but definitely has to show and prove it. If he could be a power play QB that would be huge as we don’t really have that guy.
