Hughes can write him up a contract himself to save time...:naughty:

MB also drew up the contract to save time. But he was fired before he can offer this to Harris:

I think he burns a year towards UFA if he signs with The Habs. If he waits until summer and goes elsewhere it takes 1 year more until UFA
He'd also be throwing away the salary he would be getting from the Habs for this season so that's also a nice incentive for him to sign his 3 year ELC with the Habs right now instead of going to UFA.

Harris if he signs with us, which I assume he does, would sign a 3 year ELC but it will start this year so it burns a year off his ELC. He's 21 so he would have to sign a 3 year ELC, if he waits till August 15th, he would be 22 and it would be a 2 year ELC.
The only difference is a month or two worth of development with the big club/Laval with the former option

If he really is a lefty RD, I'd pair him with Edmundson and see how he looks.

Romanov - Savard
Edmundson - Harris

Would be nice if Habs can get lucky and he ends up having a John Marino type impact.
True, with Shoe's rise, will be interesting to see how Schueneman, Barron, and Harris all get in the lineup.

At least we have 3 vets to pair them with (Savard, Eddy, and Petry). But I expect some vets to get a rest here and there, because Romanov should stay in and continue his development.

Doesn't it go by birth year? I thought where he turns 22 this calendar year, he will sign a 2-year ELC. Otherwise he'd wait until summer when he turns 22.

I don’t want to hijack the Harris thread into a discussion of the Habs’ defense pipeline, but having him, Guhle, Romanov, Barron, Fairbrother, Norlinder and Xhekaj under contract control going forward is amazing.

Hoping Harris sees some Habs games this year and Marty lets the kid play with speed/offense

I really dont see anything special with this kid, but I think he can become a useful player eventually.

According to his coaches and people who saw him a lot, he is a very mobile, poised and intelligent player. He is already a pro by the way he is training and approaching the game. At first , a bottom pairing. But we can expect a second pairing and PP quarterback.

That's an article from earlier this season but great insight into who he is. A leader, a guy people follow loved by all. Very smart, hard working humble.

Good all around game, good on the puck. No doubt he has things to improve but with his attitude I have no doubt he will be at worst a 3rd pairing 2pp guy and could develop into a 2nd pairing pp qb.

Why is it only a 2 year ELC for Harris? Since he's 21 isn't he required to sign a 3 year ELC? I noticed why searching about ELC contract age that Vegas recently signed NCAA goalie Isaiah Saville who's also 21 to a 3 year ELC.

They should shut down Petry and see gives Harris an audition for next year, to see where he stands in comparison to Guhle and Barron, and if he needs AHL time or not.

A rotation of Harris and Barron, handful of games for each. Enough time to let them play 6-7 games each.

Romanov - Savard
Edmundson - Harris/Barron
Schuneman - Wideman

Why shutdown Petry? Why not shut down Wideman?
