Wow!.....scouts said this kid could shoot the puck when he was drafted.....but that one-timer into the top cheese was absolutely filthy.

Looks like in Lekerimakki, Canuck fans have another impact player to follow in the SHL. And the best part is he's still eligible for Sweden's U-20 team.

Way too early to be counting chickens with this guy, but what a nice stroke of luck it would be, if he cracked the Canucks top 6 , in a year or so....(on a cost controlled contract).

Lekker was certainly rated highly before the 2022 draft..around #7-8...to as low as 17..Boom or bust.

"8. Jonathan Lekkerimaki: The somewhat undersized (5-foot-10-1/2) Swedish winger has a big-time shot and high-end finishing ability and performed at a high level at the 2022 U-18 World Championship. He might not have quite the same offensive pizzazz as Kemell, but he still projects as a top-six scoring forward. "Our scouting survey ranked him as high as No. 4 and as low as No. 17"....Bob McK final rankings

LOL. 3 months ago everyone on here was saying trade for whatever we can get. A few of us, not that many, called for calm and to wait and see. Now after 4 - 5 games everyone is pencilling him in as the next Naslund.

Glad he's doing well, but let's wait and see.

I think he is going to do well, and have a decent career. If he naslund's ... well that would be incredible.

Waaaaay over there
Way too early to get too high on him, just as it was way too early to write him off last season.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that he can stay healthy and gain confidence this year, with the hopes that a solid season in Sweden will lead to an appearance in Abby this Spring. Although a good playoff run in the SHL wouldn’t hurt either.

Scoring on the PP is fickle. Let's see how sustainable this is...

I’m not going to criticize how he’s scoring right now. The sample size is so small and it’s just good for his confidence. I find the reports that he’s working hard away from the puck everywhere on the ice and has earned the cos he’s trust very encouraging, though.

Not to be a pain but mods, can we fix the title so it says Orebro instead of Rogle? :)

Done.

I don't think most people were saying we should trade him, it seems like most were saying they're getting nervous but hadn't given up on him yet and this year could be defining.

The momentum he gained in the last few games of the season and how he played in the playoffs pulled most people back off of the brink, and I think it's safe to say that his bout with mono (in a crucial development year)played a massive part in his struggles.

Would be a huge boost to the system if he panned out.

It's always been baffling to me.....how the Canucks manage to keep unearthing players like Lekerimakki and others from Sweden and basically get zilch out of so many other leagues, including the CHL.

Is it Gradin, the Sedins? The Canucks Swedish scouts are earning their money

I only wanted to trade him in a package for a quality win-now player (like our 1st + Lekkerimaki for Chychrun).

Not really. I was concerned with his lack of production in his D+1. He somewhat redeemed himself during the playoffs. 2 games in, it looks promising but hardly the time to tell everyone I told you so.
Most posters are quietly optimistic..

Given the fact that he had a good playoffs..had a good pre season...has a good start to the regular season.

We're starting to see consistency.
