yes i dont get why it has to be so "gotcha" and can't believe people were claiming he was busting? He was....

This is my issue with this whole Lekkerimaki thing the entire time. To me there is no such thing as "is busting." You busted or you made it and that's not decided before it is.

Tracking prospect performance has turned into tracking it against the history of other prospects performance. That's fine, but it has become very easy for people to see how the numbers stack up and make a snap binary decision based on those numbers and there is no amount of actual scouting or other reasons that cut through those hard numbers in a message board conversation.

It reduces all conversation on the prospect to noting numbers - "oh, Lekkerimaki better pick it up, he's tracking to be a bust" - "oh he's progressed! Look at the playoff numbers!" - really I find these to be a silly grounds for discussion on a D+1 prospect given the countless paths to the NHL.

I thought the thread was going back on topic then you see the same conversations repeating themselves back off topic classic hfboard.
This happened a few months back when lekkerimaki started playing well in the playoffs and people were arguing with each other on who's right and wrong rather than Lekkerimaki's performance until the admin came and told people to shut up :help::help::help:

GMs don’t, or shouldn’t, be the ones scouting. Campbell runs the amateur scouting department and Allvin participates and signs off but isn’t the guy doing the work.

Now if you want to use Allvin as shorthand for this Canucks scouting department, then sure. No problem with that.

Great to see the emotional maturity truly blossoming, guys. Safe to say we all are here because we like to express ourselves through our scintillating hot takes, but now, now, I will admit even I am wrong sometimes! And in those times, when our opinions are proven wrong, it can truly feel like it is within ourselves that something is wrong, and boy, is it ever lonely. Chin up, partner, take another swing! You'll get it right next time! And if our dreadful team ever starts winning, we'll all be friends again!

Zibanejad was one of his closer scoring rate comparables at the time he was drafted. Of course that will be out the window this year, since Zibanejad was in the NHL for his D+2 season.
The current closest comparable in terms of NHLe in Byron Bader's model if we cherry pick his Allsvenskan playoffs instead of his regular season (because of illness) is Kirill Kaprizov.
For reference, Lekkerimaki has DO = 23, D1 = 45 (just playoffs), D2 (2 games) = 65. Of course, since Bader's model only looks at last season as an NHLe of 15 (not including playoffs is one of his model's many flaws) Lekkerimaki would look like a low-caliber prospect at this point (if he were not scoring this year).
I don't think he will be as good as either Zibanejad or Kaprizov (not likely that any player would be!), but he main point is that anything near PPG in the SHL at 19 is a very positive indicator that the prospect can be a scorer at the NHL level and he has done that so far. Hopefully it continues vs Leksands IF here at 10am PST.

And there he is again, lovely reception in the slot and a beautiful shot to put Orebro ahead in the third. His third goal in three games! This time it's an ES goal.

The first U20 player to score 3 goals in 3 consecutive games since Peter Forsberg and Markus Naslund did it in 1992.

Sort of watched the game this morning, sort of watched Europa League, but I did try to catch most of Lekkerimaki's shifts. He didn't get much ice time (12:54), but did feature on the powerplay playing on his off wing (the position that he scored his first two goals from).

I don't really understand why he got so little ice time (probably just because he is young and it was a close game), but his on puck play really stood out positively in this game and his shot and stick skills look to be a step above most of the other players at this level. His puck movement was good on the PP, and he showed good patience and dealt well with pressure (two things that are often difficult for younger players in a men's league).

He also showed good awareness in the offensive zone and made one really nice play where he was covering for the defenceman on the right side, was getting pressured by two defenders and executed a pretty inventive cross-ice lob pass over their heads to the left wing to set up a scoring chance (which was baubled by the Orebro player).

He looked a little tentative at times when engaging along the boards and let his linemates do most of battling for pucks in the offensive zone. This may have been a premeditated strategy though since he is one of the smaller, weaker players at this level, so maybe he was just playing (or being coached to play) to his strengths.

I would have to watch his shifts again to make any comment on his defensive play. He wasn't very noticeable in this regard.

When reminded that he had mono, there were many that dismissed that idea too, the doom and gloom was definitely super spreading then.
If there is one takeaway I hope some ppl take, it’s that mono can F you up for up to a year. As I mentioned long ago, the other prominent example was Couturier. After he got mono, he looked like a completely different player who regressed in nearly every facet of his game. It perplexed many throughout his draft year, including me. I didn’t think mono could affect his play to that severity, but it did.

That is a bananas stat. I know it's a good league and doesn't give many chances to young players, but I would have to think that at least 6 or 7 or so players in the NHL have probably scored goals in 3 consecutive games while under 20 over the same span.
