Jonathan Huberdeau

If Lou's scouts are letting it be known that they Like Couturier, that probably means they have their eye on someone else. Figure Larsson followed by Landeskog/Huberdeau.

Victoriaville is not an average team. They are considered one of the top teams in the Q and they did give a hard time to the Sea Dogs.

They are not one of the top teams in the Q. They were the 11th ranked team in the league, and are the lowest seed left in the playoffs. They won 35 out of 68 games, which is one game over .500 for those who want to do the math. Factor in they traded Devos before the deadline, and they are actually a worst team than their record reflects given how many wins they had with the top scorer in the Q.

Yeah, you can go and check their stats and bragg about how they are not one of the top teams in the q. But have you ever watched them play? Getting into these playoffs, yes, you can ask any other Q followers, they were considered a very strong team even if they finished 11th. They showed character and their goalie, David Honzik stepped up his game in the playoffs. After St. John, Quebec, Drummondville, and Montreal, Victoriaville is one of the strongest team in the Q's playoffs. Better than Lewiston, Gatineau and Shawi.

Victo was actually a better team without Devos because they spread the icetime better. He used to play 30+ mins a night for them.

by marketing the 1st overall

But noone has 2 top 10s (required to move back) and given that the draft is fairly even, the 1st pick would be devalued.

Why would anyone acquire a 2nd top 10 pick to move up from 2-6 when there`s a chance that their 1st or 2nd choice will be on the board when they draft?

Everything you are saying is a matter of opinion. I have seen them play, albeit only one game live. But you really like Victoriaville, I get it. But they are not a great CHL team by any standards. Without Devos in particular. That said, I do think Danault is a hell of a player.

As to Drummondville being so great, they have been whipped three games straight by Gatineau (who now have the aforementioned Devos to add to their firepower). They may come back, but based on what I saw in the series, Gatineau is the better team (although again, I didn't see game 1 or 2, which Drummondbille won). And yes, I watch games from the Q. I was at the game Wednesday at the Bob.

The main point being is that Saint John is going to face a heck of lot better teams going forward and they have not had a true test from an elite team yet. Most of the other top prospects have faced a relatively elite team at least. Victoriaville is a solid team that works hard, but not a lot of firepower, and was never a threat to win the Q.

I agree with that. But, they will have plenty of time to get tested and once in the Memorial Cup, we will be able to really see if Huberdeau can bring his game to another level. For me, I know he's the real deal, but he's gonna have the opportunity to show it to all Canada...aka all Q haters lol. IMO, I don't think a WHL team can beat St. John, but the only team that scares me the most is the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors.

FWIW, I would not bet against the Portland Winterhawks (if they get to the Memorial Cup). If there is one team that can rivalize with St. John's high-powered offense, it's them. Johansen, Niederreiter, Ross, Bartschi, Rattie, Cunningham and Leipsic.

This guy can easily develop into the best player to come out of this draft in 3 years time in the NHL. I am not just impressed with the pt totals but his style of play, 2 way player who plays with jam. He is a not a freak like Landeskog but he has that type of willingness to compete. That and huge talent is deadly in a developing player. His frame looks perfect for that type of game also, is more like 6-2 and will be around 6-3.

Can play wing also giving him a much better chance to crack a teams NHL line-up next year unlike RNH and Strome. Slide back to center when he puts on 20 lb of muscle in 2012-13.

Huberdeau might actually turn out to be the best player from this year's draft. I haven't seen the guy play but his numbers have made me take notice.

I look forward to seeing him in the Memorial Cup on TV.

What are the odds of Huberdeau becoming a full time winger at the NHL level?

I don't know where to put this so here goes.

Jonathan Huberdeau has the skills you want in a prospect cause he can do it all. I personnaly think he has the best set of hands in the draft and can stickhandle his way out of trouble without a problem. His vision is also excellent cause he likes to set up his linemates but he's been playing left wing with Zach Phillips as his center for the most part of the year.

I see alot of Claude Giroux in Huberdeau but if he's going to turn into a winger more so then a center, that's something Lou should think about since we already have Parise and Kovalchuk playing the left side.

Thanks ;)

I'm guessing his chances at becoming a full time winger are better than him being a full time centre. You never know, though.
