Jonathan Huberdeau

Why are people using Skinner as a comparable here? Skinner is built like Sidney Crosby in the lower body. He worked with Gary Roberts in Toronto to get ready for the challenge of the NHL and he was one of the strongest skaters out of his entire class despite concerns about his top end speed. The two are nothing alike in that sense. Skinner was 5-11 and about 190 lbs. coming into the season. Huberdeau weighs in at about 170 lbs. despite being a few inches taller and it's distributed differently.

Not saying that Huberdeau isn't NHL ready, but his frame as compared to Skinner is night and day.

agreed. He is still very skinny and will be 18 next year. Not a good combination.

Skinner is a world -class skater. His mom taught him figure skating when he was young.

Huberdeau could make it this year if he is well surrounded. He could play wing.

Like RNH, there isn't much flaws in Huberdeau. If you wanted to find one, it would be strength.

So while he probably could make the NHL, it would be smart to send him down to juniors and gain some muscle and fill out his frame. Same goes for RNH.

But once they do, they'll come into the NHL and absolutely tear it up!

patrick kane is listed at 5'10" 178lbs and believe was under 170 entering his rookie year. huberdeau was listed at 171 at the combine but i could see him easily getting to 180+ by the time nhl training camps begin. so from a physical standpoint, he should be fine as far as nhl-readiness. i could also see him playing at around 190-200lbs by the time he fully matures.

I think you would like to see Huberdeau physically mature more. However, like some have already said depend on who drafts the kid. i.e. if the Islanders take him he will make the opening day roster.

If he is drafted by the Islanders he will likely be playing in juniors, the Isles have a relatively deep offense. Nino was close to being ready last year, but he got sent back to juniors.

He may be NHL ready but it would probably be better for him to spend another year in juniors to continue developing his game and confidence.

the thing is, being 5'10 and 178lbs is actually decent. he's quick solid for his height.

Huberdeau is 4 inches taller and around the same weight size. he's skilled, no doubt, but he isn't as solid as Kane was during his draft year. I think training camp will be a good indication whether he is ready to take the punishing hits and checks from NHLers, but at this point, I can only speculate that he isn't ready physically

Is he NHL ready? He will most likely get drafted in the top 5 at this years NHL draft but will he make the cut with his NHL team and play in the 11-12 NHL season?

the guy is a top 3 talent for this years draft, but I do NOT think he is anywhere near ready for the NHL next year...he needs to get stronger and faster before a team even thinks about bringing him up...if they rush him you might have a turn out like a Pierre-Marc Bouchard situation where he should have been sent back to junior but the team keeps him up and ruins his long term ability im my books...what ever team gets this guy has to know he will be returning to junior no matter what really and that he is a future star not a guy who will be helping a team right from draft.

With winning the MVP at the Memorial cup, Jonathan Huberdeau has defiantly rose in the draft, Edmonton will still probably stay with RNH but would Florida or maybe even Colorado pick him up instead of Larsson or Landeskog?

Unless Florida is doing it as a smokescreen, it seems like they will not not let Huberdeau slip past them if Colorado goes Larsson or Lando

He will most likely go to New Jersey or Ottawa depending if Lou likes Couturier better. I want the Devs to draft Huberdeau, he's probably only a year away from cracking the Devils' roster.
