Jonathan Huberdeau

Whoever drafts Hurbedeau should do everything possible to also get his partner Phillips.

Edm and Avs are in excellent position to grab both, with their picks. Edm won't draft him 1st , but avs could draft him 2nd and phillips 11

If FL drafts him 3rd, maybe they can dangle Weiss and/or 2nd pick to get a 15-20 pick for phillips

Like the Sedin twins, they are a dynamic pair

What if the team that drafts Huberdeau has a better talent to pair him with. Like the Sedin's, but not actually, and just in junior.

nothing like two players that must be paired together in order to succeed. I hope that is not the case for either of them

Wasn't there some player in the NFL drafted very high because he had an awesome combine, but who ended up being awful on the field?

There's that type of player every year. Someone who gets overdrafted because of their athleticism. The worst example in recent history has to be Vernon Gholston. He was drafted 6th overall by the Jets in the 2008 NFL Draft based off his freak athleticism... He was released by the Jets this season. He never recorded a sack or a TFL during his 3 years and struggled to crack the starting lineup.

Gholston was god awful. His freakish athleticism should've pegged him to be a monster edge rusher in Rex Ryan's system. Once he got the money, he never had the work ethic to improve his game versus tackles who were on par with him athletically. A lot of professional sports comes down to work ethic. At the highest level, everyone is good. The greats are the ones who bust their ***** every second of play.

Even on college he was a lazy player known to take plays off. He might have been special if he had drive but you can get by on pure talent and athleticism in college but once you hit the pros everyone is a freak athlete and it takes a bit more.

Sorry if this was answered before, but what do you think are the chances Huberdeau cracks the NHL next year?

Jonathan Huberdeau... NHL Ready??

Is he NHL ready? He will most likely get drafted in the top 5 at this years NHL draft but will he make the cut with his NHL team and play in the 11-12 NHL season?

Ottawa (Brian Murray) after their workout in Ottawa said both Landeskog AND Huberdeau look NHL ready.

The fact that Huberdeau can play wing very well to at least start off his NHL career is huge as far as NHL readiness at his light weight because his hands and hockey sense are GOLDEN.

If Skinner could play this year and even win calder never say never with Huberdeau.

yes he is. I'm sure after his epic 2 reps bench press, he will be working out hard over the summer to build his strength.

The kid is dynamite and has done everything possible in the Junior level.

It would have been better to ease him into the ahl for the 1st year, but whoever is going to draft him avs to sens, may think its better to rebuild the team with them in the lineup

Hard to say, but I think so. Strength/weight is obviously a concern for him right now, especially for his style because he plays alot more in your face then someone like RNH.

I think if he comes in to a team's camp and shows that he is capable of playing solid both ways and can chip in some offense, a team won't hesitate to have him in their lineup past a 9 game tryout.

I think in terms of pure skill and compete he might be ready to play in the NHL. However, I think he'll physically wear down as the season goes along and it would be best for him to play in the Q one more season just to add some strength and continue to build confidence.

He's ready, but whether he plays or not depends on who drafts him. Devils have an extremely competitive camp, for example, and that'd be incredibly hard to crack first try. Florida might be able to put him to work right away

I think you would like to see Huberdeau physically mature more. However, like some have already said depend on who drafts the kid. i.e. if the Islanders take him he will make the opening day roster.

He would be better off with another yr to improve from a physical standpoint. He needs a little extra in the skating dept to really excel. However, he looks like he could easily put on some weight so not really a concern for me.

I'd say the only guys who are NHL ready are Larsson, Landeskog, and Couturier.
