Player Discussion Jonathan Drouin----Nothing burger edition.

I wish there was a "dislike" button on HF for this post.

I mean - don't get me wrong, I thought you were crazy for thinking Drouin ~ Lafleur, but you still had me excited lol. You kept pumping him up and i was like "whoa, Lafleur? That would be cool!"

And then you end it with "Ok not Lafleur, Kovalev". Talk about sucking the air out lol. Kovalev was a likeable player and all, talented and such - but Kovalev isn't exactly the type of player that leads you to a cup. I'd rather have Lafleur...

Couple of points:

1. I did say 07-08 Kovalev. He was incredible that year and very consistent all year long. That's the season when he had his long blond hair that reminded people of Lafleur.

2. Kovalev was a strong playoff performer.

3. Rather have Lafleur than Kovalev? Duh. So would I and everybody else.

The positive news from last night's game towards Drouin is the Drouin/Kotkaniemi/Armia line looks to be effective. We need chemestry between Drouin and Kotkaniemi if we are going to get results from both of them. Armia will do his thing cause he's been consistent

I think we should trade high for Drouin. Drouin + cap dump for Bergeron + Marchand + Pastrnak. I mean those 3 are all on pace for 0 points... but... I would give them a chance.

I think he will have a good season if he has stability with Kotkaniemi. They need each other IMO.

Only one good game is enough to silence some of the detractors, let's hope it continues cause a bad game vs the Laffs, and they'll be back in force.

If they go silent after one game they aren't detractors , any real concerned fan would know the issue with Drouin is consistency and statistically speaking 1 game is not possible to determine consistency. This is the same in the other direction if 90-95% of his season is stellar , I can easily forgive 5-10%.

It's a good first game , we'll see where we are towards the middle of the season (and this can be said for a few players on this team).

Because there isn't one, just a random observation. He was able to quiet the media a bit, but I don't buy it, yet.

But, I have been as big of a critic as anyone and justifiably so, he needs to be consistent and one game is not enough.

I'm really hoping he could get it together and keep it up because that would give KK an offensive weapon and give the team 3 lines that contribute offensively.

If he can put together 10 solid games in a row, there may be hope after all. Maybe it's the KK influence, who knows. He didn't do anything out of the ordinary, just played to his ability. It's a start.

Drouin is an awesome player. Just admit you went overboard, or not. Just enjoy the show.

He has to continue to bring it. I have been a harsh critic but only because I want him to be more. I love talented players.

We judge him as one of our child. Who doesn't want to see him at least achieve great things. We can't be passive because he'll be too. That's his electroshock.

detractors forget, there’s a reason Drouin makes $5M and not Marner $...

Good game for Drouin. Glad he started things off right esp after a rough preseason. The games actually matter now so hopefully this is the start of a trend rather than a one off.
