It would suck to see Gaudreau go but if that's what he *actually* wants then I agree with above and would hope for something like:

Simmonds/Schenn + Provorov/Sanheim

roger millions has no sources at all, and the flames under the current regime have been tightlipped to the point of absurdity. also, hasn't gaudreau said repeatedly that he said he wants to play in calgary/with monahan for 10 years? plus, as brought up already, gaudreau is ineligible for arbitration and an os. not really a lot of premise for a trade imo.

What does Carolina have?

Calgary would need a similar forward in return unless it a top pairing young player. Otherwise Their defense is already comfortable for the forseeable future. Calgary needs forwards.

Hanifin, Faulk, Rask, Skinner, Lindholm, Teravainen, J Staal . . .

Hanifin + TT would be interesting if I were Brad Treliving.

Roger Millions travels with the team and during the season talks to the players and management daily. He jumps the gum sometimes on breaking stories and doesn't always tell you what is facts and what is his own speculation. But he is about as close as you can get to being a Flames insider.

Nobody is reporting that Gaudreau is saying "trade me right ****ing now!!". Millions is saying that he has heard rumblings that maybe Gaudreau doesn't want to be in Calgary longterm. Which may very well be the case. Really it's just summertime fluff.

The Flames are going to be really good and when that happens this won't be an issue. Even if he entertains the idea of leaving in FA, I think a Stamkos situation occurs, where he realizes that the grass isn't necessarily greener on the other side.

I bet it would.

Canes and Flames aren't good trading partners. They both need the same thing and have similar strengths.

point well taken about millions spending a lot of time with the team. it just feels like millions' tweets and stories are almost all speculation on his part. and more often than i not i remember his reports being wrong when something breaks. might be confirmation bias :dunno: i'm much more inclined to trust someone like steinberg or haynes.

Ya me too. Those guys strike me as guys who only report something that they have verified from multiple sources and when they are speculating, they make it clear that it is only speculation. I'd put Rob Kerr in that group as well. Whereas Millions and Francis are more likely to just throw something out there on a slow news day just cuz.

Also, I miss Randy Sportak. Nobody covered the Flames better IMO. Can't believe the Sun let him go, can't believe nobody else scooped him up.

I'd love him on the Leafs, but I just don't see it happening. The asking price would be enormous, and I don't think it's something I, as a fan of the team, would want to see be paid.

I think it'd take something like:

JVR + Marner or a mix of Marner/Nylander/1st/JVR

Too rich for my blood. I'd rather take the chance that Marner turns out to be as good as Gaudreau.

Lol how is Gaudreau a franchise player but Hall isn't.

Sorry, but neither Gaudreau or Hall are franchise players
