Good post Bucks. Echoing all statements here.
This is heartbreaking. Reading the report (drunk f-er passing on the inside after 5-6 beers?!? )… I can’t even express my rage.
So to focus on Johnny (and his brother),… it’s devastating to hear of his passing…. You can’t truly know a persons personality without really knowing him, but I’m forever grateful to have seen Johnny Hockey play the game. Not just the elegant plays, but his approach to the game and his teammates. As an opposing Oiler fan it was always so easy to see a guy who brought joy to the game and those around him… always seemed like the nicest guy and teammate at the rink. His love of the game, and life, was always shining through the color of his jersey… he will be missed.
Rest in Peace
Yeah.. couldn't have known. As unfortunate as it is, it's natural to feel that way even though it has no basis in reality. Just how minds tend to process overwhelming emotions like that - that you could've stopped it.
So terrible.
I've driven in something like 30 states before, i can tell you the Northeast, especially NY/NJ is among the worst in terms of aggression. its like everyone is 5 minutes late to an important interview at all times
It's sad, but sometimes people need a wake up call like that to show them how dangerous what they're doing actually is. Glad you learned and that no one was seriously hurt. I think plenty of people drive buzzed thinking "It's not so bad, I'm fine" which leads to pushing that boundary of "not so bad" and what constitutes being "fine." Then you end up with stories like this. When I was 21, I drove drunk and crashed my car into a pole. I’m 33 now and I regret drunk driving so f***ing much because it could’ve easily been someone else on the other end of it.
Driving drunk is just super selfish and shortsighted. There’s just absolutely no excuse for it and if I had killed someone back then I’d want the book thrown at me as well.
Yeah no shit sherlock, how could you think I am rationalizing what the driver did?Doesn't mean you have to use your vehicle to run over a cyclist.
Out west people are worse but there’s less People so it’s less dangerous. There’s bad driver everywhere in this country.I've driven in something like 30 states before, i can tell you the Northeast, especially NY/NJ is among the worst in terms of aggression. its like everyone is 5 minutes late to an important interview at all times
Probably in poor taste but I’m curious to see the guys mugshot
What you would think.Probably in poor taste but I’m curious to see the guys mugshot
I wasn't, I just used your quote as a jump off point to mine. Like I previously mentioned, just because you're required to drive, doesn't mean you get to treat your vehicle like a weapon. There's a lot of easily avoidable accidents and tragedies.Yeah no shit sherlock, how could you think I am rationalizing what the driver did?
Yup. It honestly doesn’t matter to me if he was drunk or not. His actions claimed the lives of two young men. We don’t take the right to operate several thousand pound death machines seriously enough. This dude shouldn’t be licensed to drive ever again and he shouldn’t breathe free air for a long long time. You have to be kidding me man. The idiot was drunk and passed cars on the shoulder of the road because he was impatient.
Brodziak's brother and nephew got severely injured and they were walking and hit by someone that went over the curb. Speed and alcohol weren't a factorThis makes me think twice about riding my motorcycle. If Johnny Hockey can get killed instantly…
Any sense of invulnerability is clearly misguided. It’s unnecessary risk.
