Not only did he destroy the Gaudreau family but he ruined his own life in the process. His own children will grow up without a father just like Johnny's, All so he could get to where he's going a couple minutes faster? Such a senseless tragedy. May the friends and family of Johnny and Matthew find peace.

I’m not sure about the States, but if this happened in Canada and the guy pleaded guilty, he’d honestly probably be sentenced to 3-5 years, which is an absolute joke.

He would be out on bail the next day, most likely take a plea agreement and go on conditional sentencing to serve his sentence in the community or go to federal prison and serve 1/3rd of his 3-5 and be out in 12-24 months.

Ah man… this is horrible… absolutely devastating news…
He was such a happy guy, him and wife seemed to be so deeply in love, happy family, good human being all round. I don’t know as much about Matthew but I’m so sorry for him as well.
I am personally a recovered alcoholic, not saying this dude was an alcoholic, but I always knew enough to not drive if I’d drank too much. This selfish idiot ended the lives of two good young men and has scarred the lives of so many others in the process. His wife, kids, sister, parents, everyone that loved them. They may heal but this is forever entrenched in their hearts. Ugh so unfair. Johnny always was smiling and a joker.

My deepest heartfelt condolences to the family… May both of these young men rest in peace until they are reunited with their family again one day within the universe. May god be with you both gentleman…
