You can't lose a player like Gaudreau and get no assets in return.

Treliving needs to be fired yesterday.
You couldn't trade him with the year they were having.

Not much you can do if it's not money.

Tough break for sure

I also feel some empathy for the Flames fans here. Always tough to lose a home grown player that not only is a great player, but good character person. I know he came to Brampton for Monahan's charity. So props for him for doing this. In the end, players earn the right to choose when they hit free agency. If you have to bend over backwards to keep a player, you probably don't want them. You want players that want to play for you. He had a great run in Calgary, was a fan since he showed up there as rookie and wowed me with his skill and creativity.

I know he wants to play in Philly but he might have to settle for NJ or NYR.
He wants to play close to home. Like Tavares.
I also don't think Kadri wants to return and play in Canada. Especially after the online shit he had to put up with. It definitely didn't all originate here, but I think he likes the anonymity of playing in the US and only living in Toronto during offseason
Every big name is always linked to NYR. But the last thing they need is another high priced wing.

Kind of baffling if he wants to join the flyers honestly considering how badly they’re currently being managed. Flyers fans would be the first to tell you that
I doubt winning is his primary concern. He wants to be a millionaire close to home, if he wins it'll be a bonus.

Likely wants to play outside of Canada. Way too much pressure on Johnny Hockey playing for a Canadian team.

I agree with everyone else who says that the Flames should have at least traded his rights.

They would have gotten something instead of nothing.
Kinda hard when you're first in the division and, at that point, expected to go on a long playoff drive.

Also, try telling your fanbase at that time that they are trading Gaudreau because he probably won't be back after this season.

No, Calgary did the right thing at that time and kept Gaudreau.

Losing Gaudreau won't be a huge loss for the Flames anyway. Tkachuk is the real leader on this team and time to make this his team.

I'd expect to see a Tkachuk-Lindholm-Mangiapane top line for the Flames next year.
