I have a feeling that Flames fans are going to be disappointed in both the Flames' record and Johnny's stats. Expectations seem way too lofty, they're not that good or deep of a team.

Wouldn't be surprised if the team disappointed. It happens.

But Johnny is already back in his late season form from last year.

Im on board the PPG train. Choo Choo mothaf***ers!

Just because I can, I would lie to point out that Gaudreau is currently tied for 4th in NHL scoring. :naughty:

Yea, but let's wait till he does it against real NHLers at even strength who can actually play defense while juggling flaming bowling pins and singing the Canadian national anthem in reverse with an Arnold Schwarzenegger accent.

Maybe then I'll buy the hype. Until then, he's a 1 dimensional power play specialist. He'll be lucky to break 30 points.

The sarcasm is strong in this one. I sense great satire and contempt.

You only have to exclude the first 5. He's got 69 points in his last 78 games. So he's already scored at a 73 point pace over the past 78 games, many of which included time with 3rd liners and limited power play opportunities.

So 70-75 points would be a bit of a disappointment IMO. Would show pretty much no improvement. I would have to guess that with more ice time with better players he'll be at least near a PPG if not better.
Since Hartley put him with Monahan and Hudler just before last years all-star game:

36gp - 35pts

Playoffs:

11gp - 9pts

Josh Jooris had a whole 4 points after Johnny left his line

Gaudreau has been BY FAR the best Flame so far this season. They would be 0-7 without him. He's got 9 points in 7 games on 15 Calgary goals, and he's 3rd in the league in assists. 85+ points is not out of the question. He looks like a superstar out there.

Scary thing is he should have a few more points, but pretty much everyone else on the Flames have been awful.

He's been good. and yes, the rest of the Flames have been terrible until last night. But to me, he was trying to do a bit too much when we were losing. He was trying to do everything himself. And when he's at his best he is setting up other players.

That said obviously I am one of the biggest Gaudreau supporters/ defenders out there but I feel Johnny could have played even better, despite his production. I don't disagree that he looks like a superstar, because he is a superstar but I honestly think he can bring his game to another level.

Based on the extra points available in OT this year, I wouldn't be surprised to see Gaudreau put up 80-90 points.

This post does nothing to shift the goalposts where one cannot criticize the guy. A better line would be :

Gaudreau has proven he can score in all situations and is carrying his team at this point.

He's one of those guys that when he has the puck on his stick, I think: something neat is going to happen now.

The puck follows the guy, and he's so slick taking pucks away and rolling off hits. He'll have a PPG season this year, easily carries our offense.

I have to admit, being an oiler fan, I was hoping Johnny hockeys career path would be similar to Johnny footballs, a train wreck in the making. And Both of those are terrible nicknames by the way. But gaudreau looks to be completely legit, the kids a player, and doesn't show any signs of slowing down. he's been very impressive on a very unimpressive flames team so far this year.

I still hate his face though.

The kid can play. I've said before, it wouldn't surprise me if he's in contention for the Art Ross one day. Not saying he's a lock, but he's one of the few in the league who has the skill to make it happen.

Very exciting player to watch. That pass to Gio was crazy!

Johnny Hockey is a cute nickname and he has an adorable face. So what I'm saying is you're wrong

He's been stellar. He is so good at rolling off hits. I can't see him really getting steamrolled in the NHL. He's their one big bright spot. Always making something happen.

I expect he's getting lots of extra attention this year. So is the whole team. A drop off is to be expected while they adjust. This happens to almost all skilled players breaking in. From what I saw of three games I was able to watch he's still working hard and going to the right areas but the whole team is in a funk right now. They aren't surprising anyone this year and their D has been very average at best. Goaltending has been terrible. I think you're seeing a team learning how much harder it is to win when you are not a surprise to other teams and they get keyed up to play you. Hard to say as I'm an Oilers fan.

The only struggling Johnny has done has been trying to do too much when everyone is/was playing very bad. He's been the sole bright spot and our best player every game.

Can't believe he's even on +/- on a team that is -12 through 7 games. Leads the team in points, assists, and plus/minus.
