The Rangers next coach should be good with young players and be more offensively astute. They have a lot of good young players who will be pushing and they have a young core.

Btw; The writting was on the Walls when Brad sat out the last 2 games, that was not Torts's call at all..
 
Ruff would be a disaster.

I actually like AV, but I'd rather not get another retread, and I don't like how he plays favorites with ****** players (Aaron Rome, Andrew Ebbet).

Yeah, as far as I'm concerned, getting Eakins would be a coup. I would be over the moon if the Rangers could get him to be their coach.
 
Wow... uh ok. Not a fan of the move. Should have had until at least middle of next season. But whatever. This team's management continues to be a joke... interesting to see who they pick to replace him; not holding my breath for an upgrade.

But on the bright side, I guess now all those offensively talented players on NYR's roster will just explode next season with Torts gone, right? :sarcasm:

Torts was an offensive coach. Remember all the things you posted when Torts was hired. Where were the results? Where was the safe is death mind set?

I don't know how anybody could defend Torts after watching the power play the past two seasons.

Long over due. His style became predicable and easy to adjust to.

Just think Gab would rather go to play in columbus then play for torts. says something.

I think the obvious choice would be Messier. He'll get the respect in the locker room while the assistance can run the drills. after all he happens to be a well polisg hockey mind.

Lindy ruff and all the others will just bring another 3 years of misery.

You're not going to find a coach that doesn't play favorites.

Not a Vigneault fan at all. REALLY don't like Wilson. They need a spark and a fresh perspective. They need someone with a track record of grooming young players. Eakins has that.
 
This worries me in the sense that we were obviously closer to the "win now" than rebuild and win later. So, something better better come from this. We need to keep moving forward.

I'm surprised, but happy that this happened now, as opposed to midway through next season if things went even more to hell.

An entire off-season to re-tool behind the bench, and go into trading camp and the season with a plan for where to take this team.

I'm hoping Sullivan sticks around and purely focuses on our defenseman. Seems he's done a good job grooming them, he should continue. Now we can get a PP coach, and a head coach who can put a product on the ice that plays better to the personnel we have. Wouldn't mind seeing Boucher here, he did good things in TB, he just didn't have the players to go further. But Eakins would be even better for us I'd imagine. A fresh start feels good, as long as we're a competitive team come playoffs.

Why? Because those are the retreads out there right now? Lets hope the team takes some time and makes a creative choice.

I thought Lindy Ruff couldnt be more lazy and predictable...looks like theres rumblings Jim Schoenfeld is in the running. The Rangers never cease to amaze me. Ugh.

Brassard and Moore weren't exactly what we;d have called "Torts guys" especially not Brassard. Bringing in Clowe I could see linking that to torts. My honest opinion is that Gabs sucked and was getting old and they jumped on a great deal. Clowe they went for a big name and it was a bad trade imo.

Not surprised though. Torts just did nothing that we could tangibly see to improve the offense or PP. Unacceptable level of failure on over half the ice including the N zone. This isn't the NFL where a bad QB can annihilate an offense there are too many forwards and too many offensively capable players. Too much PP failure. Anyway I'm getting repetitive.

If Sather does his Q&A via conference call, is there any way to listen to that? No way I'm listening to Francesa relay the answers for me.

As far as I can tell:

Renney is a bad coach because he's reserved.
Torts is a good coach because he yells and ****.

It can't be results-based.
 
Good. I never thought he was the right coach for us.

One of our posters reported on his Twitter and Facebook during the Boston series some very relevant details of this. I'll leave it to him if he'd like to bring it up in here.

Anyways, adios, Torts. You were the first head coach of any of my teams that I had open disdain for.
