If I were to compile a ranking of this sites posters opinions I’d trust to be unbiased towards John Tavares, your name would be at the very, very bottom. You may as well move it right along lol. We both know you’re still super salty at Tavares. (This is where you say conference finals, didn’t need him etc, but you never miss an opportunity to cut him down, we all know why).
What exactly did he say that was wrong there?

People say Hindsight is 20/20, but there still seems to be plenty of Leafs fans defending this contract. lol

If you wait till after the Bonus hes owed around $17M over 3 yrs in actual money or about $5.67M vs his cap hit.

a team not want to pay full salary might have some interest over 3 yrs. Toronto doesn’t get much for him other than cap space.
The problem is that most top teams care about the cap hit because they are up against the cap. And Tavares isn’t going to waive to go to a bottom feeder

What an argument! 76 points in 79 games .96ppg this season or his career average of .943 is closer to .828 ppg and .755 ppg than 1 ppg.

Do you think generally you always have bad arguments that follow no logic and make little sense? At least put some effort into it next time.

Why do Leafs fans always get so immature and personal? Nothing I said was wrong. You're welcome to try again if you want to talk like an adult.

I would be interested in bringing in Domi and Kadri for the right price.

How was nothing you said wrong? I literally provided the stats to discredit your hot take. It made no sense. He’s been well above both of your examples his entire career. He’s ~60 points under a ppg over 13 seasons.

Personal because I called you out on making something up? I provided you with the actual statistics that refute your argument, because of that you’re accusing me of being ‘personal’ and ‘immature’ when in reality you just don’t have a response to what you clearly never researched before posting.

Sure. William Nylander + Sandin + 1st for JT Compher. There. Another fantasy trade.

Sure it makes no sense but debate it please?

You realize you can just move past a thread that you think is stupid, right?

JT produced around a pt/game as the 2C on the Leafs, there would be interest in him, don't know if the Leafs would extract a ton of value in the transaction though.

Guy has a NMC, this thread should be closed until there is an actual rumour that says he wants out.

For budget teams like the Sens, he has value once that bonus is paid.

Would two 2nds cover it?

Just promise not to get mad when we deal him with 50% retention to recoup those assets before that next bonus payment is due.
Exactly. Under the unlikely assumption that he would waive, a trade to Ottawa after his bonus is paid this year should be quite attractive for the Sens. They get him for three years for an average of just over $5.5M per in real dollars. And they could also trade him before his contract is up to recoup some of their investment.

This sport doesn’t bring in anywhere near enough money to make a luxury tax make sense.
Its just the wet dream of a few fan's teams like Toronto or maybe the New York Rangers. They want every advantage and don't want a level playing field because its too hard for them be successful. Ranger fans don't even bring it up from what I've seen here.

For his salary he needs to be an elite 1C I don’t put him in that class. I think to this point he has never been proven a winner To lead a team anywhere.

If you can get his salary down to $8m and you have another strong C to put on another line I’d think he can be a very worth while player to pick up. A team like the Wild might be a good fit, if only they had an extra $12.7m of cap space kicking around. i just don’t see how the Leafs make that work.
