Very similar hit to Prusts, except for two factors:

1) Moore was more timely with his hit, not as late.
2) PPoC was the chest, not the chin.

Those two factors are what made Prust's hit illegal. It looked worse live than it does when you watch it a few times. Last night I was fine with a couple games, now I'm not so sure.

That being said, if the league doesn't suspend Moore, all hell could break loose. He'll be a target next game, and Prust will probably go back to doing something dumb. The league will probably suspend him for a game to keep things in check. Preventative measures, and as much as I don't think he deserves a suspension, I can see why they would do it.

Also Moore doesn't try to elevate like Prust did. Thats why Moore's skates dont leave the ice. No jump in the hit.

Here's my opinion:

The two incidents were VERY similar in that both were hits the skater did not see coming/expect, and both contacted the chin after the chest. I don't think either was AIMING for the head, just to put a very hard lick in.

The two incidents were very DIFFERENT in that Prust's was late, Moore's was not. Prust had a history, Moore does not. Prust's caused injury (requiring surgery) Moore's did not. Prust was not penalized during the game, Moore/NYR received a punishment during the game.

I think Moore as a first offender should only be FINED, I think in order to quell the Montreal caterwauling, Moore will be suspended the rest of the series, and by that I mean ONE game.

Contemporaneous with the play, I thought the hit was high. I watched the replay a few times and I do not think the hit was high. I also don't think it and Prust have much similarity as (1) Moore is not a fighter (2) Weise is not a difference making forward for them like Stepan is for us.

I think, with all due respect to Prust, the reason he was suspended wasn't the damage he did to Stepan's body, but the fact that a bottom 6 grinder tried to take out a top 6 forward.

No injury to the victim, so my guess is 0 or 1 game max. Unfortunately in these situations, injury, or lack thereof, is a factor. Then again, so is wearing a Ranger uniform....so who knows.

Rumor is it's taking so long because Therrien is trying to figure out what kind of surgery to make Weise have so he can be "injured" like Stepan was. :sarcasm:

How dare you accuse such a class organization with a storied history of doing something so unsportsmanlike. You should give your head a shake. :sarcasm:

Not suspension-worthy, but they'll give Moore a game to keep fans of the Montreal Bobbleheads from going ballistic with their complaints.

I still don't understand how the referee (all 4) miss D Step hit. While D Step was laying on the ice, those ref's didn't even converse to each other why was there a player laying on the ice. Yesterday ref's did a much better job. Of course it against the Rangers.

Pollock saw it and said it was clean. A ref who calls a 2 game suspendable hit clean should face a similar suspension.

For something like this, I would follow the triple-source rule. Twitter is notorious for stuff like that.

Very well put.

Yep. Unacceptable officiating.

As a former referee, I agree 100%. Inexcusable officiating by that crew. They should all be re-tested for competence, and at the very least removed from further assignments in these playoffs......or escorted to the nearest DMV office for an eye exam.

The more I watch, the more I question how this could be suspend-able. Certainly not late, and doesn't even look like it hits the head. Certainly not the principal point of contact.

As did Driscoll (of Carcillo and Embellishment fame). Driscoll never reported anything to the refs so he saw it as "clean" as well.

Supposedly it's only the best of the best referees still reffing. Makes me wonder about some of the rest. Pollock did say he saw it and thought it was clean. These plays happen really fast but even so...

Even though we lost I thought the officiating crew last night did a fairly decent job. Most all of the penalties were deserved. I was glad they caught Plekanec's acting. The game itself was sloppy as hell.
