2 games ... he went for the head.
He didn't go for the head anymore than Mike Weaver did on Brassard.
2 games ... he went for the head.
He should get one game. I have a sneaking suspicion he'll get two or three.
Imagine if this was the habs board,
"No hit to the head, he clearly threw the helmet off himself"
"Hardly even a penalty, Weise clearly ran him"
Prust hit was a little later sure. But whether it was .2 or .4 later that's a little too nit picky for my taste.
I read somewhere that CBC clocked Moore's hit to .5 seconds after the puck and Prust to .93 or something similar. That is almost twice as late and that should be significant.

If he does, it is obvious the league is biased. No history and no injury = one game.
This hit was predatory and from the blindside, much like the Prust hit. He should get 1 game, based on history and injury outcome, but I would bet my house on him getting 2, just due to the stink the Montreal media will put up if Moore gets less games than Prust for very similar incidents.
But the outcomes are extremely different and the NHL has made it clear, injury has an impact on the suspension.
So, we'll call it the same exact hit for all intents and purposes:
Prust:
Breaks Stepan's Jaw
Has previous suspensions on Resume
Moore:
No Injury
Clean Record
Yeah, what bothers me most is - first off a penalty is called on the ice, then the refs huddle, look at the board and give him 5 and a game. The same thing shouldve happend to Prust. After watching what was an almost identical hit, how Prust didnt get a single penalty minute for that hit in the game is appalling. Its something we all cried about when it happened, but now to see it played out the way it shouldve been, after the fact, against us is ****ing ********.

Agreed on paper, but I would be surprised if he got less than 2 for the sake of the league not wanting this to take on any more life than it already has. Another interesting wrinkle is the in person hearing. If he gets more than two I will be pretty ticked.
New York Rangers defenseman John Moore will have a hearing Wednesday with the NHL Department of Player Safety for a hit on Montreal Canadiens forward Dale Weise in the third period of Eastern Conference Final Game 5 on Tuesday.
Moore was assessed a match penalty at 10:41 of the third for his hit that knocked off Weise's helmet. Weise left the game briefly before returning to skate three more shifts.
The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: illegal check to the head. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.
Montreal won the game, 7-4 to extend the series to a Game 6 on Thursday at Madison Square Garden.
Where did you see the in person hearing?

There was no illegal check to the head.
