Lots of delusions surrounding Klingberg. This is a 3rd pair PP specialist judged by his performance.
The market he and his agent dream of hasnt existed for a few years now.
RH 3rd pair PP guys are not hard to find, most teams already have one or two in their organization.
He should frame that Ducks check because its the last big one he will ever see.
If Anaheim can find someone stupid enough to give them a 1st in this draft for this rental, good for them.

I’m sure whatever he goes for will be largely based on what he’s done in the past, and not how he’s looked on this tire fire of a team, which has managed to make very good players look like scrubs pretty regularly. Scouts and GM’s hopefully will see that.

Chiarot was traded for a first rounder. So was Barclay Goodrow. And Shane O’Brien. And Paul Gaustad.

Low end 1st rounder I think is still possible but I doubt we get more. The original thought is we would get a 1st +. Pretty sure that '+' is gone at this point.

And honestly, if it takes us taking on a bad contract, make it happen. We arent using all of our cap for a few years.

I just cant see a team giving us a 1st for him. Feels more like a 2nd to me. If I were a fan of the buying team I'd be pissed about my GM giving a 2nd for him.

I think they will be looking at what he did in Dallas also where he was playing on a better team with better coaching and depth. Everyone is down on this Ducks team to where they should be.

I hear what you are saying but I just feel like he sucks. There is a reason he was last on his team in plus minus with the stars and they didn’t want to resign him and now every ducks fan is complaining about how horrible he is. Watching games makes it clear he just isn’t a good hockey player.

Although Klingberg has the worst plus/minus on Dallas' team last year, he was fifth in team scoring with 47 points, 19 of which were PP assists. Klingberg is an OFD who can eat up minutes, but needs a stay-at-home D to complement him. Anaheim isn't as talented as Dallas is, which further exposes Klingberg's flaws.

One constant for playoff teams to go far in the playoffs is having depth because injuries happen often. If the Ducks are willing to eat up a lot of Klingberg's remaining salary in a trade, then that makes it worthwhile for playoff teams that are nearly cap strapped. A late first rounder might be feasible for a rental who could produce more with more talent around him. Well, that's what most of us are hoping for. We have a couple of months still to see if Klingberg improves his offensive game.

Pretty much this. I think we have been able to see jut how sheltered he was in DAL. If he were to goto a playoff team that has its D pretty much set and just need to add some scoring touch, he can fit in nicely. But our D sucks, hes being asked to do too much on his own and its exposing all of his weaknesses.

He can still get a 1st in return and if we need to eat salary to make that happen I dont think Beeker will have an issue doing that.

Reportedly, Dallas made an offer of $7.25 million x 8 years IIRC. He (or his agent) turned it down because he wanted 8 x 8. I'm sure they're happy how things turned out now.

I am concerned about the market for him at the deadline. How many playoff teams actually need a player of his skillset at his cap hit (even at 50%)? I struggle to even come up with potential destinations. I'm honestly hoping an injury somewhere creates a need for him.

I think if the Ducks are going to get a 1st round pick going to have to take a cap dump back as well, kinda what we did with Kase by taking on Backes.

I'm guessing this is a trade that likely requires a third-party retainer, so I think the acquiring team likely gets him at only 25%, but otherwise I agree it will be a thin market
