Not a bad year but was expecting a bit more from him and quinn production wise, slightly disappointed, but they were rookies who did show lots of promise and ability to be much better than their point totals would indicate

Big glow up is hopefully in store next season. He was great the final stretch of the regular season and seems to be carrying It over to the worlds. Still think he’s got a high ceiling. I will forever say he reminds me of McDavid when he has the puck on his stick…

So much fun to watch, and root for. He has a smile on his face, even when he gets knocked to the ice. He's a pest, and he attacks. This is the energy we've needed for 15 years on our second/third line.

Any word on why he only had 2 shifts in the third period of today's WC game?

I saw an interview after the game with the German head coach. He is not injured.
He said, it felt like JJ just did not have his game tonight, and the Austrians were playing him pretty tight, so he decided to go with Varejcka instead, to both give JJ a little extra rest and Varejcka a bit more ice time.

So, JJ will be back against Hungary and hopefully well rested and maybe a little extra motivated.

It seems like JJ is taking full advantage of featuring on this German team. For those watching closely, are you learning anything new that helps project where his game may go?

Interesting question.

He's been creative off the rush and in moving the puck to others in good position - things he did well at the AHL level and in flashes at the NHL. The speed is evident and he is driving people back with his burst - again, things we know.

What I wanted to see was more drive to the interior with the puck and without. And he's still kind of moving the puck from a position where he could challenge to places that aren't as dangerous, at least to how I am watching him. *shrug* But his speed does get him to places and pucks, creates some chaos. Feels like he's having more of an impact than say Quinn or definitely Krebs, perhaps a slice below Tuch who's on the top US line.

Imo because:

-Our forward core is very good, but we have a lot of players of similar style and experience.
-Smart teams occasionally flip good, young, cost-controlled players for significant value to fill other needs...
-While backfilling with experienced UFAs perhaps of a more needed style, especially when the team has plenty of short-term cap space.
-And we have a half dozen forward prospects about to start knocking down the door for these same spots. We will likely be saying goodbye to a couple of our cherished young forwards at some point.
-All our speculation is just for fun anyways.

Smart teams don't trade players they see huge upside in.

I don't see point in trading Peterka at this stage.
