Is there a chance he could rejoin the Wild in time for the playoffs after his Swedish team finishes their season?

I believe the situation is he could joint the Wild, or Iowa Wild after his season is complete but unless they bring him over before the trade deadline he wouldn't be eligible to play in the playoffs. No real point burning the year of the ELC if it's just for regular season games which might not mean much by that point.

I think it's theoretically possible, but would we want to burn a year on his ELC for that?

I'd be fine with it. If Battery's play doesn't pick up, and the cost to acquire a 4C at the deadline is Gaustad-esque. Rather burn the ELC than give up a 1st or 2nd for a 4C.

Solid game tonight by Ek, playing 18:24 with 1 goal and 1 assist. He has a little streak going right now with 6 points (3+3) in the last 5 games. He has only played 15 games this season and has a total of 10 points (5+5). More interesting is his 22 hits.

Here's tonights goal:

Yes, I think I understand what you're saying. Sweden Hockey Games, part of Euro Hockey Tour is played next week. Sweden vs Russia (Ek vs Kaprizov) next saturday at 3:30 pm Swedish time, or 8:30 am or something Minnesota time. Gonna be fun.

Kind of ironic when fast food and beer/soda companies are sponsoring sports teams and events.

Not really ironic...it's not the players attention the ads are going for...it's us fat slobs on the couch and in the stands.

Grab a big Mac and a beer and watch these players do all the work while you enjoy it sitting on your ass!

Of course, but it's the teams that take money from these companies and promotes something that is directly contradictory to what the players are doing. I just think it's a bit funny.

Now we really are off topic. This is a discussion for another thread I guess.

If only we had a thread for off topic discussions.... A "General OT" thread, if you will. :D

1 Goal and 2 assists by Ek in Sweden Hockey Games. I watched 2/3 games and from what I saw he was one of the most important players in Swedens offense. I get more impressed with every game i watch. He's so strong with the puck, has a great shot and plays with confidence. And to get so much faith from the coaches is great for him.

Färjestad has a 12 day break with next game on friday, so it was good that he got some extra play time.

The experts in the studio after the last game said that he should be an obvious choice for the World Championchip in May. Of course that depends on what happens in NHL. KHL is already over by then I think.

Wild draft team deserves a steak dinner for their work these last several years.

Replacing Tommy Thompson with Brent Flahr probably helped.
Ding ding ding. We have a winner.

Cannot believe TT had me fooled for a while with his drafting "strategy" of selecting Canadians who had hit their ceiling, skilled but weak on the puck Europeans, and so many hard working grinders.

Flahr immediately switched that to puck-moving Dmen with great gaps, forwards with at least one or two already-NHL-caliber traits, and gamble picks with legitmate upside.

Of course, can't blame TT for DR's reactive drafting to the problems of the prior season, even though that draftee was 4-5 years aways from the NHL and could in no way help the Wild the following season.

Let's see what Kunin, Kaprizov, Ek and Greenway turn into as NHLers (if they all even make it as consistent NHLers, which is probably long odds) before we go patting them on the back too much. This is the same group that took Dumba over Forsberg, Zach Phillips at all, Gabriel in the third, and Tuch over Fabbri (and Pastrnak, but I wasn't screaming for him like I was Fabbri).

Early returns are encouraging, but I remember the hype around all our 2010 guys and I have my reservations.

Funny how you reference the 2010 Draft when Mikael Granlund is leading our team in scoring. Jason Zucker is having a career year and has been a GIANT part of this run, and Johan Larsson has been a solid player for Buffalo.....? :help:

LOL, our 2010 guys that are now kicking ass?!

Did you watch the last WJC? Did you see one team's prospects stand out above all others, except maybe Ottawa's?. Every craft takes a while to master, and the last several drafts have been stellar, espcially considering they didn't have a full slate of picks, or even top 10 ever.

Yeah the wheels could fall off all of them, but I doubt it.
