For the 8.0 rating:

"8. First-Line Forward/ No. 2 Defenseman / No. 1 Goaltender – players with definite skill that might be just a cut below elite status, but still possessing All-Star potential."

So somebody here thinks Ek has allstar potential? Come on people, be realistic. Mid 6 tops, similar to Coyle.

Nothing about him as a player or his development is similar to Coyle

No, of all players in "Farjestad J18 Elit" (and others), what was his rank in scoring?

Last year in the SuperElit J20
19 year old Daniel Bernhardt led the league in both goals and points. His stat line was 44 games 26 goals 61 points.

Eriksson Ek had a stat line of 25 games 21 goals and 32 points. Project those numbers over 44 games and you get 37 goals and 56 points.

One thing that stuck out to me was he was far and away the best goal scorer on his J20 team. 25 games and 21 goals. Next highest was 18 goals in 37 games.

All I know is I want the Wild front office to be patient with this kid, but I fear the worsening decline of Koivu will speed the process up.

I don't want any set pre-determined path for any prospect. If they show they're ready for the next step, then by all means move then to the next step. If they show they need more time then give them more time.

Don't be patient just for patience sake, and don't rush them before they're ready either.

5 years from now we are going to look back and say "How the hell did we even consider anybody else at 20?"

Oak has the tools to be the 3rd best center in this draft. And in an offensive capacity as well.

So, each year he spends in Sweden, does that take a year off his contract? Or does that contract only take effect when he starts playing for the Wild (or an affiliate of the Wild)?

The Wild can "slide" his contract for 2 years. Ek signed a 3 year ELC, if he spends 1 or 2 years in Sweden, he comes to the Wild still on a 3 year contract. If Ek were to play 3 years in Sweden, he would come to the Wild on a 2 year deal.

Got it, thanks!

He works his way up to it.

Good, simple goal, too. I doubt he'd ever get left alone like that behind the net (unless it was a PP?), but he didn't screw around getting it on net ASAP.

Yeah that goal would usually not happen in the NHL.Good to see him getting on the scorecard right out of the gate though.

Or, if it did, he would be knocked down immediately after scoring it.
