Even MSL gave up on Armia. Imagine that.

Rather than use up a spot in Laval, would it be a better option or even possible to loan Armia to a team in Europe ? I'm sure he could make the top six for Kunlun Red Star.

I'm sure he's not happy. But his actual salary this year is $4.8M and next year it's $3.8M. He won't give up that kind of money.
You wouldn't think so - but I still won't be shocked if he does...His energy was already crap in the pros, don't know how he would deal with minors.

*EDIT - people saying it is paper transaction only and he stays with Habs so I guess never mind.

He will not waive the NMC to be sent to the AHL, and no team is going to trade for that contract without a huge sweetener from the Habs.
And the Habs aren't that desperate to get rid of him.

My guess is he’s gonna be a healthy scratch game 1.

When asked about the possibility of Armia being assigned to Laval, JF Houle says he usually leaves those players alone for two days. And then he sits down with them and talk about moving forward. He's lived through these situations in Bakesrsfield (Edmonton's AHL affiliate).

This quote to me makes it seem like it's for real, and not just a paper transaction.

Not saying it won't work but I have seen this happen in extremely rare cases. Both parties can just agree to terminate the contract and Armia leaves. However, he won't just leave all those millions on the table. So, he might just play in Laval until the Habs buy him out next summer.
