I would want another solid reliever if possible just because of the potential for injuries. If everyone was healthy that’s a great bullpen.

In a perfect world you add a legit arm to the back of the pen like Kimbrel but if you cant get a true #1 or #2, im fine sticking with what we have.

Would now look at starting depth or potentially a legit 3B.

It really is ridiculous that young guys who are effective and throw strikes go down just because they have options while the organization will continue to trundle on with the 'proven' Dolis and Chatwood and their combined 6.00 ERA while walking nearly a batter/inning.
Well Chatwood is on the IL, he's not exactly an option to be sent down. As for Dolis, yeah he's been bad this year, but after a 1.50 ERA last year in almost as many appearances as this year, it's pretty easy to understand why the organization wants to give him a chance to prove which guy he is. I am a huge fan of Castro though, that kid could be a future closer IMO.

Tampa optioned Richards earlier this year, so we can also send him down if needed when arms return and if we acquire more. Richards also has an addition MiLB option too.

I read somewhere (maybe here?) that Kimbrel could be had for cheap if the acquiring team takes all of his remaining salary. So the remaining this year along with 16 for next. Hefty price tag.

Major League Leaderboards » 2021 » Relievers » Dashboard | FanGraphs Baseball

Since he became a reliever in 2020, Richards is 4th in fWAR of Jays relievers this season;

1. Jordan Romano - 1.2 fWAR
2. Julian Merryweather - 0.7 fWAR
3. Adam Cimber - 0.6 fWAR
4. Trevor Richards - 0.5 fWAR
5. Tim Mayza - 0.4 fWAR
6. Rafael Dolis - 0.4 fWAR
7. Ryan Borucki - 0.4 fWAR

Fitting because it seems like this will be our pen when healthy.

All of these guys have pitched 50 innings or less in this period.

If Kimbrel is available then I truly hope Atkins is going full force for him, and if possible, make it a blockbuster and include Bryant.

Richard Rodriguez is another interesting name. 2.51 era, closer for the pirates. Couple years of control after this year. FA in 2024. Pirates suck so they could move him for prospects.

Bryant doesn’t make sense unless we are close to taking the division. He will want stupid money next year and we simply can’t give it to him as we have Bichette and Vlad to worry about.

Jays could easily absorb that with the current team

Next year is a club option according to bbref.

Tellez traded, huh? My first big "called it" for this website.

Was hoping he'd be part of some major package, though. Oh, well.

We definitely went for depth with control vs peak performance vet. It is what it is. Sometimes quantity over quality is ok when it comes to pitching. Hope it works out. These guys have some potential but still hoping for 1 more high end reliever. Maybe they dangle someone like Hiraldo for Rodriguez or they take on salary for Kimbrel

That’s interesting. Maybe wait a few weeks until end of July then to see how it plays out
I'm not a big analytics guy, I don't dismiss them, just don't really understand them and while I understand the effects of spin-rate and such, I have no idea where to find that info; as I lean more towards being a casual fan. But his regular numbers don't look that bad to me, looks like he had a poor outing on the 1st and it was in the last few days I read that, so it could have just as easily been someone jumping to a conclusion. But if you know where to look up game to game spin-rates and pitch movement, it'd tell you more than I could

Another nice reliever pickup for Tellez. Hopefully one of the excess catchers can net us another one.

If Shatkins locks up Vladdy this offseason, we looking at 10 years, $240 million?
Takes him to 32-33 years old.
All his prime years.

Maybe similar to the 8 years, with 2 yr team option to be 10yrs like Acuna Jr's deal.
