Charlie is an absolute joke of a manager. The pen stinks to begin with but damn every game it seems we have to overcome his idiotic decisions to win.

I didn’t watch the game. However, using Chatwood against their best hitters was stupid. Use Romano. Probably could have used Chatwood in the seventh against their worst hitters.

Charlie doesn’t have a lot of options but he’s not using his bullpen arms wisely.

I do not understand bringing in Saucedo over Thornton or Payamps. Stewart was the only lefty coming up and he is hitting under .200 vs RHPs
on the jays postgame they said it was the worst thing they have seen montoyo do, and they have ripped him quite a bit lol

Montoyo's use of Romano has been bad. He is dead set on using him in the ninth regardless of who is batting in the 8th or 9th innings. Currently, there is a big gap between Romano and the other relievers. The O's top of the order was up in the 8th. He has to use Romano there. There shouldn't be another option. Chatwood has struggled. Romano likely pitches a clean inning to the top three batters, then in the 9th go to another reliever to close the game out. The game has evolved from the closer in the 9th crap and Charlie has yet to adapt. It's cost the team wins and he still refuses to budge.

I mean, we were up 4 runs. It's hard to fault Charlie for using Chatwood with how good he's been the last few appearances, but when he's off you gotta get him out asap. There's no way he should have faced Moutcastle with 2 runners on, and what's worse is THAT is when Romano should have come in, not Saucedo.

Sigh. If we had even an average manager we'd probably be second place in the division.

2021 MLB Mock Draft: Pirates take prep shortstop No. 1; Vandy's Kumar Rocker and Jack Leiter go in top 10
19Blue Jays
Pick: RHP Ryan Cusick, Wake Forest ($3,359,000 slot value)
Cusick is one of the hardest throwers in the draft class and the Blue Jays have a recently history of jumping on big college arms. At this point in the mock high school players offer the most upside, but Cusick has as much ability as any college arm outside the two Vanderbilt righties.
June 11 mock pick: C Adrian Del Castillo, Miami

So when are we signing Vladdy to the tatis type contract?

y’all see Montoya back again next year? How long are we going to suffer with this amateur coach? Feels he shoulda been fired long ago….

Imagine he is back again next year - that would be a kick in the balls

I usually defend Montoyo because he does take a lot of unwarnted bad mouthing, but last night Romano was ready and I have no clue as to why he didn't put him in after Chatwood walked the first batter.

What really gets me is that he was doing this stuff well earlier in the year when the pen looked good... he would just use guys situationally rather than with prescribed roles. Romano would come in to face the best hitters regardless of inning, then the next most reliable guy, etc. And it worked! So of course when a new strategy works so well the best move is to completely switch back to an outdated one that everyone knows is far less likely to succeed. Uggggggh.

Are they going to let Chatwood go before he blows a game that really matters? Dude is not trustworthy

Well Chatwood has to face at least 3 batters once he enters the game(or finish the inning but since he started it that's at least 3 batters anyway). But once he walks 2 guys you have to pull him after the 3rd guy regardless of what the 3rd guy does, and you don't go to Saucedo.

A) It was necessary

B) It's been 9 days since he's pitched, if last night wasn't what you consider necessary then you might as well put him on the IL and got another arm up here since he's eligible to come off it again TOMORROW!!!!!

edit: Borucki's been out for what 5 weeks now? Remember when that was a small thing they didn't want to put him on the IL for? I don't understand the aversion to putting someone on the IL when they're not ready to pitch and they can come off it again in a couple days

Why didn't he start Romano in the 8th?

He’s literally a nightmare. That one quote tells you he’s incapable of managing anything

Montoyo will not be this teams manager next year. I am certain of it.

I dont know why charlie refuses to take guys out after the 3rd batter before that rule no one batter a eye at hookong a pitcher after one bad at bat.. if hes struggl8ng you pullem after the 3rd guy seems pretty simple

You guys need to calm down about Montoyo. He had a “feeling” Saucedo would work out. Isn’t that good enough?
