Leo Jimenez has quietly been pretty solid as the third best middle-infield prospect on that team. He's younger than Hiraldo and just a few months older than Martinez. A glove-first SS prospect with a high-BB/low-K profile leading to a 131 wRC+ in A-ball at 20 is pretty solid. He likely won't become much unless he at least develops some doubles power or something (a .039 ISO is... not good), but at least he's getting results.

He's rule 5 eligible this offseason. He feels good enough to protect but as a SS in Low A who's in theory the 3rd best prospect at that position that far down I'm curious if they'll protect him. Is anyone really going to pick a A ball SS who doesn't have a ton of upside and leave him on your team the whole year.

I didn't realize he was already eligible. I would guess he doesn't get protected and doesn't get picked.

Thought about it a lot C4G:

1. Moreno
2. Martin
3. SWR
4. Groshans
5. Manoah
6. Pearson
------------
7. Martinez
8. Kirk
------------
9. Hiraldo
10. Merryweather
11. Hatch
12. Kloffenstein
13. Van Eyk
14. Smith
15. Taylor

Little higher on CJ Van Eyk than me but the rest is quite reasonable. He's another guy I'm not sure how to feel about. I was waiting for some results this year and they haven't exactly been all that exciting so I bumped him down to the lower tier. But it's his professional debut here so who knows. I just don't see all that much upside.

What's not to like about Van Eyk? Multiple places say he has 3 plus pitches (FB, CH and depending where you look, one of CV/SL). Decent K rate, could walk less.

Not crushing Vancouver, but he's done pretty good for his pro debut.

I don't know, his upside feels like a #3 at best with #5, reliever or bust feeling way more likely. I think I like to rank guys higher if they either have bigger upside or have proven themselves at a higher level. Take Jimenez for example. He's got fringe starting SS upside but more than likely a bench player, and he's only at low A so far. I rank Van Eyk similar to that. Maybe I'm underestimating his upside IDK. I mean I had him 15 so it's not all that different that you, but I think I'd like to see either higher upside or proven at a higher level before I move him up a tier

Edit: I know I ranked him 1 spot above Murray but what makes him a tier higher than Murray? Their upside seems similar, perhaps Van Eyk a tick higher, but Murray's proven it at a higher level as well(though is currently injured)

Moreno with clutch 2 rbi single in the 8th inning.

1-4 with 3 rbi on the night.

Jays have 6 prospects in the Pipeline’s top 100. Tied for the most in the league with the Mariners.

Stark reminder this is with already one of the best offences in baseball that houses Guerrero, Semien, Springer and Bichette. If managed properly, this team is stacked and set for a WHILE.

With the talk of Van Eyk, he had a solid start today giving up three hits, no walks, and 8 ks in six innings. I don't know much about him but this year, excluding his first start, walks seem to be the issue. He pitched against Eugene today which is a very good team.

Jays have 3 position players in the top 30; Guerrero (1st), Semien (8th) and Bichette (22nd)

The last time the Jays did that was in 2015; Donaldson (3rd), Bautista (18th) and Encarnacion (26th).

Jays team pitching WAR ranked on June 24th;
2015:
26th
2021: 27th

Mock Draft: Top prospects starring in CWS
19. Blue Jays: Anthony Solometo, LHP, Bishop Eustace Prep (Pennsauken Township, N.J.)

Some teams consider Solometo the best left-hander available. The Blue Jays could be the first team to take Eastern Illinois shortstop Trey Sweeney and Florida prep outfielder Jay Allen, both of whom have helium, as well as the first on New York high school catcher Joe Mack. Bednar may be the top college pitching option.

Got some good rumours here. And of course the Rays would take Williams.

I was just thinking about how im really impressed with Vladys defense. It must be really frustrating at 1B on the Jays team. You never know where the ball will be thrown. Ive seen many inaccurate throws scooped up by vlady and others. Very impressive.
As good as he is offensively, the fact that he is a good runner and solid defensively just adds to his value especially since speed and defense are almost never associated with a 1B.

I think this is a fun little stat about Vladdy: in the last 3 games, he's gotten on base 7 times... and his wRC+ has dropped by a point.

Not that I disagree with the statement but the addition of Semien is odd. He’s signed to a one year deal so unless he re ups with us he isn’t part of the the stacked team going forward

I'm ready for a Moreno callup.

Adams has been a mess, Gabe needs a promotion anyway. See what he's got before Jansen comes back and go from there.

I love aggressive promotions for prospects who dominate, but this is a tough one for me because of the current catcher situation. McGuire deserves more playing time right now, so a McGuire/Moreno split would probably be ok with Adams getting more time in Buffalo. But you almost have to approach it as no matter what Moreno does, he's back in the minors when Jansen is back, which would put everyone in a tough spot if Moreno dominates out of the gate.

For now, I'm fine giving him a bit more time unless Jansen has a setback.

Wilson Ramos was released by the Tigers and he was my number choice to be our backup catcher in the off-season. I doubt we add another catcher with Jansen and Kirk potentially on the mend but i wouldnt mind grabbing a vet catcher like Ramos for a few weeks while sending down Adams.

Montoyo was the bench coach in Tampa when Ramos was their catcher.

Reese has impressed.

He has the 5th highest position player WAR on the team and 5th highest wRC+ with everyone above him having triple the amount of PAs he has. As it was said before, teams will regret not taking him for nothing when he was on waivers.

Jays record when:
McGuire Starts: 14-8
Jansen Starts: 16-17
Kirk Starts: 6-7
Adams Starts: 2-4

Lots of smoke around my boy Solometo. When I was pumping his tires I had no idea he was even on our radar so this is pretty cool. Trey Sweeney is an interesting name that I never really considered due to his ranking and school, but as a potentially underslot lefty-hitting, middle infielder with some power he is interesting. My only question is level of competition, but the profile reads like rich man's Biggio?

They all should be at the all star game.
