anyone know off hand of a website that would have data far enough back to make a comparison between moreno and pudge during there short minor league careers

seems like thats the only name no one is willing to compare him with lol not likely for sure but one can be optimistic and hope lol

Baseball Reference has minor league data going waaaaaay back.

It's a tough comparison to make because so much of Pudge's value was in being a defensive superstar, and the numbers won't show how Moreno compares there.

After a couple starts w/ Buffalo, Manoah had hit more batters than had gotten hits off him.

Clearly he has a violent history of hitting guys over and over again that they didn't take into account. On appeal they need to up the suspension to 20 games. :sarcasm:

AGAIN!? Yeesh. And I've just been through a groin strain. That's 2 months, easy.

Well, at least he'd still make a decent bullpen option later in the season, but he's gonna have to play winter ball if he wants to build up his innings. Then again, if this guy can't endure a starter's workload while he's young and vibrant...

And on the Springer front, I sure hope he ends up batting before Guerrero. I know he loves to whine about batting leadoff, but come on, can you imagine the looks on a pitcher's face knowing they have to decide between pitching to Springer or Guerrero? I totally want to see that, and I'm sure you guys do, too.

He... does?

Keep in mind that while managers can request a check, most of the guys getting checked now are the guys who the data shows have been using substances. This isn't random;, they are literally grabbing the worst offenders to validate.

Moreno at 100 is honestly ridiculous, though.

The Braves C prospect at #57 is hitting .240 at the same level as Moreno and is 3 years older.

Pipeline always does that though. Instead of putting the player higher they just add him to 100 until they redo the whole list.

Orelvis 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a HBP in game 1 of a doubleheader. Currently delayed by rain tied 10-10 in the bottom of the 6th.

Hiraldo is 1 for 2 with a walk, Britton 1 for 1 with a walk and 2 HBP. He's been thrown out twice on the basepaths including 1 weird one with the bases loaded, an infield ground ball(that went for a single) where he was thrown out at 2nd for the 3rd out but the run counted so he must have overran 2nd base???

As great as Moreno looks, it's still only like 100 bats. And he will likely be blocked for a couple years regardless until DH is freed up for Kirk.

He... does?

You guys don't know this yet, so I'll say it this one time: I don't respond to trollish replies.

Leo Jimenez has quietly been pretty solid as the third best middle-infield prospect on that team. He's younger than Hiraldo and just a few months older than Martinez. A glove-first SS prospect with a high-BB/low-K profile leading to a 131 wRC+ in A-ball at 20 is pretty solid. He likely won't become much unless he at least develops some doubles power or something (a .039 ISO is... not good), but at least he's getting results.

If he keeps hitting, no one is going to block him. They can move one of the catchers if they need to, they can keep three catchers on the roster (particularly if they let Moreno get a bit more time/experience at 3B), or he'll just force his way above them on the depth chart.

I feel like maybe you don't know what "trollish" means. Regardless... please explain this "Springer likes to whine about hitting leadoff" thing you brought up, since I'm sure I'm not the only one who has no idea what you're talking about.

That's not how it works. If Moreno is as real as he looks right now, he's going to bypass everyone...period. He has much better overall tools and upside than Kirk does behind the plate, and considerably less physical risk (Kirk has barely been up to the majors and he's already out on an extended DL stint - the physical build is an obvious concern). It's more likely that they dangle Kirk in a trade than it is that he "blocks" Moreno in any way.

1. Moreno 2. Kirk 3. Mcguire 4 Jansen 5. Adams

Does that seem accurate for potential? Obviously not saying Moreno is #1 right now just talking potential.

Mcguire is looking like he could be a nice little back up catcher and he bats left... maybe even more if he keeps this up. Catching is so deep it's crazy. Could probably trade Jansen for pitching next year.

McGuire's lack of an offensive track record in the minors makes me think his potential is the lowest, but he's strong defensively and the lefty bat is something none of the others can offer.
