Mock drafts seem to have us consistently picking one of the high school catchers. Not sure if that's based on inside info or just a guess but here's Harry Ford with his best Jose Bautista impression.

Talking about throwing the kid into the fire. First career big league start against arguably one of the scariest lineups in baseball. In their home park. Where home runs come as easy as can be. Thought for sure they'd wait to call him up against the Marlins or Indians

Excited to watch that game tomorrow though.

Yeah, I guess there’s no better test, but I really hope this won’t be a confidence breaker game.

Dude has been killing it in AAA

As prospects go, I don't think it gets much more confident than Manoah.

He shut down a handful of Yankees in spring training too no?

In that regard it makes sense. Familiarity with the lineup already

Im sure it’ll be fine, just cautious is all.

I am higher on Manoah and SWR than I was Pearson (still very high and still am on Pearson), so I am just hoping for the best here.

If 2/3 of these guys can transition to the bigs, that will be big for us moving forward.

Nice going, Charlie, overusing the bullpen so much early that caused injuries and deterioration in performance.
Nice going, Atkins, providing next to no starting pitching depth. Really good going.

If we had competent starting pitching from the start would we have shredded through the bullpen like Leatherface on a group of drunk teenagers?

Inning pitched before injury:

Borucki - 13
Dolis - 13
Phelps - 9
Castro - 7
Merryweather - 4
Romano - 3
Hatch - 0
Yates - 0

I can't imagine lightening those loads was going to keep them healthier.

People keep saying this but did they (or you) bother to look at what was available for free agent pitchers?

Kevin Gausman - FA but tendered by the Giants after a solid 2020, looks even better now

Jake Arrieta - washed

Kendall Graveman - converted to closer

Jon Lester - looked to be washed

Charlie Morton - has been below average this season

Chris Archer - super washed

Jose Quintana - awful, somehow the worst pitcher in an already bad Angels rotation.

Drew Smyly - also awful

Corey Kluber - was assumed to be washed because injuries had robbed him of almost two full seasons

The Jays sign any of these guys and you're still whining because they would stink and do nothing to fix the problem

Taijuan Walker was an option. I would have liked him back but for 2 years plus a player option I would have declined that deal as well

Honestly hope Kluber is alright. Always sucks to see a great player get screwed by injury

Completely genuine: I would feel so bad for Kluber if he's out for a while.

Completely sarcastic: I would feel sooooo bad for the Yankees if he's out for a while.
