I thought he'd be good with some seasoning but I did not expect him to jump from Harvard to the NHL this seamlessly. It's really incredible what he's doing.

He's very elusive. Has that gaborik like ability to disappear off the radar and then appear and shoot again in a blink. Not the same kind of snipe and release, more dirty goals, but the same ability to get lost in a good way.

He's the magic man.

part of what makes Vesey so
slipper is his edge work, he can turn on a time and switch positions to accept passes ridiculously fast. he's so efficient in the neutral zone because of this. i think he'll make a great two way forward in the near future

I keep forgetting what a big kid he is because he looks 14.

Vesey has scored several "gimme" goals where you think "well he didn't actually do anything he just got a great pass" but the fact that he's consistently in place to receive those passes is indicative of a skill that not every player possess. If it was that easy you could stick any old plugger on a line with a good passer and they'd score 20.

I think he's still figuring out who much he can handle the puck and how to be more effective with his shot, but his net presence game is great so far

I don't think I've ever even seen him not within 10 feet of the goal.

He is an incredibly slippery player for that size.

Any comparisons that are not from the 90s? What do you guys think?

He reminds me a lot of Chris Drury.

Drury was smaller but could play physical game. Went into dirty areas chased down pucks...Made plays. Was always buzzing, but wasen't a grinder. Always thought he was more of a goal scorer then a playmaker as well...But was also impressed with his play away from the puck. With Vesey so far I think were seeing a lot of the same.

I remember reading scouting reports on Vesey and they said he was more of a power forward. I don't think that's accurate. He has the ability to make plays with his strong skating. Pretty good at protecting the puck also ,but wouldn't quite put him in a power forward category. Chris Kreider is a power forward. David Backes. Lucic etc.

This is really good. I've been struggling to find a comparison, but this might be the closest. I was thinking of Messier Part 2 in that he was smart enough to put himself into position to score goals. But Drury is closer for the reasons you spelled out.

Little late on this one, but I absolutely loved when Vesey gave Pastrnak a shot after he shoved him into the boards after his goal. Growing up a Rangers fan I've seen so many rookies come into the league and not only is the kid super intelligent, he doesnt take **** from anyone and wants to prove he belongs in the league.

Its the little things he shows in addition to his talent and skill set on the ice that show the type of determination he has and the more I see it the more thrilling it becomes that he chose the Rangers. Really excited to see what this kid will develop into.

We've seen that from Buch too. They're both feisty. :)
