Jimmy V

welcome to da Big Apple!

Thank you for listening to my personal appeal, making me look good

This means I am 2 for 2 whenever I outreach to ufa via college route guys, the first one being your bud, Mr. Hayes.

-----------------------------------------

That said, to the 95% of the board who is cool, all I say is yay!

the 5% that looks to give me grief constantly over this, that or the other thing,

yield to the bernmeister! :bow::bow::bow::razz::laugh::yo:

I don't know how I feel about this
are you a 5%er?
or w/the good guys?

LMAO.
Ah Classic Bern.

And .... it's true!!!

Rangers have alot of connections with Vesey's father, kinda knew was gonna play out this way after hearing months ago that Boston was out and then he didn't want to go to the leafs. Chicago never made sense if he wanted to stay on the East coast, and Buffalo was just the lure of playing with Eichel.

If you don't call it, it doesn't count:propeller:propeller:propeller:propeller

B13 get a pass

Dagoon you know I appreciate you bringing us your info but thanks again man.

RB, always enjoy your info on here. It's one of the main reasons I still come to these boards. Even though I still think you're some kind of robot, you're the best. ;)

Dagoon/RB/BBKers/etc are all :thumbu:

yessssssssssssssssssssssss!!!

Nash-Stepan-Zuccarello

Vessey-Hayes-Buchnevich

????

I think that's possible, but there's then a LOT of guys for fourth line spots. I'd like to see

Grabner - Jooris - Fast until Lindberg gets back, then it gets a bit crowded. But it could set us up for a upgrade on defense.

We'd still have Hrivik, Jensen, Glass, and Gerbe competing for a spot...assuming I'm not forgetting anyone else.

Hartford could end up pretty stacked this year. Hrivik and Jensen as one combo with chemistry...then there's Stromwall and Kovacs with chemistry. Then you'll end up with Gilmour and one of Paliotta or Clendening on the back-end.

Pretty significant turnover, but I think it helps us out a lot. Pretty decent depth all around.

Can't be anything but happy with this. Hopefully he develops well and can be a top-six winger for us, but if he doesn't, adding a 3rd line winger is nothing to sneeze at.

Nash - Zib - Zucc
Kreids - Step - Miller
Vesey - Hayes - Grabner
Gerbe - Jooris - Fast

Buch starts in Hartford.

I want to think about line combos but I feel we are trading at least one more guy

Not upfront unless they get value for Nash

Can't see zucc going . They have 13 forwards . Jooris can be sent down when Lindberg ready . I don't count glass he's going down for sure

Assuming no other moves made:

Nash-Stepan/ZBad-Zucc
Kreider-Stepan/ZBad-Miller
Vesey-Hayes-Buchnevich
Grabner-Jooris-Fast

Gerbe as 13F until Lindberg comes back.

Glad he's on board. Always good to add a free asset.

I think the most important aspect of his game ends up being that he can play in a "lead protector" role that some of the other younger forwards might not be able to.

I think he displays that two-way savvy right away.

He's not a fast power forward. He's a quick thinking, strong and smart skater.

There are elements of "prototypical" in his game. I think that's a good way of saying he knows how to do his job. Probably closer to NHL ready two years ago when pre-season starts.

I think he's in the top 9 right away.

That third line would probably be horrid on back checks/ defensive zone coverage. So if ever they got caught in their own end god help them

Yeah it's a concern.

But we'll see how it rolls out during training camp. That lineup is not really what I expect to see on opening night, or even mid-season.

We'll see how camp unfolds.

I think Vesey-Hayes being together is most likely. We'll probably see the 1-2 C/W combos AV used in 13-14, like:

Kreider-Stepan
Zib-Zucc
Hayes- Vesey

With Nash, Buch, and Miller finding their spots amongst those three duos.

A veteran NHL amateur scout recently offered a remarkably complimentary analysis of the 6-foot-2, 195-pound Vesey: “I think he’s going to be a step-in player into the National Hockey league. Ultimately, he’ll be a top-six player, given a little time. It’s a big step from where he was to where he’s going. There’s going to be an adjustment for him, but I think he’s going to be a very good player. I think he’ll be a guy who can step into the NHL and play right away. Then, a month at a time, he’ll get better and better — and he’ll keep getting better year by year. By his third season he should be an excellent top-six forward.

“He’s a very intelligent guy — with the intelligence it takes to graduate from a place like Harvard, and his on-ice awareness. He demonstrates the same type of intelligence on the ice that he demonstrates in the classroom. I’ve watched him very closely. When something happens on the ice, he reacts very quickly and very positively. And his skating has improved tremendously during his four years at Harvard.â€

Sweeney, using Tampa Bay wing and fellow Harvard graduate Alex Killorn as a comparable, told Vesey he would have a chance to start his career alongside Krejci on the No. 2 line. Julien, who had seen Vesey live several times and reviewed other games on video, explained how he would be deployed. In future seasons, Sweeney sketched out how Vesey would mature alongside younger forwards such as Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson, Zach Senyshyn, and Jake DeBrusk.

I wonder how the Rangers pitched him, besides the whole celebrity angle.

Probably a lot of things, but undoubtedly pointed to Hayes as a good example of how they are willing to provide the ice-time and follow up with a lucrative contract (despite Hayes' poor play last season).

without any trades...

Kreider Stepan Nash
Zuccarello Zibanejad Buchnevich
Vesey Hayes Miller
Grabner Lindberg Fast

id let vesey play 3rd line minutes. he didnt play a lot of games last year compared to an NHL schedule so id rather he didnt play more than 15-16 minutes a game. id also imagine that one of nash/zucc is gonna be trade though for a dman.
