A lot of people projecting a Vesey-Hayes-Buchnevich 3rd line, but I don't think AV is going to be comfortable flanking Hayes with two rookies who both have no NA pro experience.

I'd assume he's going to try and see if Vesey-Hayes can be a duo for him, but I fear he may slot Fast on the RW for defensive responsibility, possibly playing Buch on the 4th line.

Either way, projecting the lineup this far out is futile, we have to see who looks good with who, especially with this much change coming to the forwards. The top 9 is incredibly deep and as we all know AV spreads his ice time out pretty evenly for the top 3 lines at 5v5.

We could possibly see Nash on the "third" line with Vesey-Hayes. Either way, the top 9 forwards should be:

Stepan
Zuccarello
Nash
Zibanejad
Kreider
Miller
Vesey
Hayes
Buchnevich

Hopefully in camp he can work some good combinations, the depth is definitely there to have 3 highly potent scoring lines.

I made it to two Clarkson games last year...Mrs nyr grew up in Potsdam.

The one thing I love about the Mayors Cup games between RPI/Union is that there is always one random Clarkson fan that shows up. And then during the national anthem, they scream "Knights" at the appropriate point, to which the entire arena responds "SUCKS!"

College hockey is just another experience from NHL hockey. Love it.

Thankfully I was able to see Vesey often, since Harvard is ECAC as well.

without any trades...

Kreider Stepan Nash
Zuccarello Zibanejad Buchnevich
Vesey Hayes Miller
Grabner Lindberg Fast

id let vesey play 3rd line minutes. he didnt play a lot of games last year compared to an NHL schedule so id rather he didnt play more than 15-16 minutes a game. id also imagine that one of nash/zucc is gonna be trade though for a dman.

Yeah, something along this is what I'd do. Buch gets minutes with high end skill guys, Vesey brings some defense to the Hayes - Miller tandem and Miller can take draws on that line as well. I liked the Kreider - Stepan - Nash combo in 13-14 and always preferred Nash on the off wing.

Kreider Stepan Buch
Miller Zib Zuch
Vesey Hayes Nash

That's my top nine. I'd roll those three lines pretty equally. Then, any combination of a fore checking, defensive fourth line.

I was there the weekend RPI and Union were up. That was my first experience watching D1 hockey and I loved it. I wish I lived closer because her parents have good seats (not that there are any bad ones at Cheel) and you are right about the atmosphere. I live in GA and the closest sheet of ice is 2 hours away, let alone any sort of organized hockey to watch...

What's AV's track record with rookies? Does he take the leash off if they perform exceptionally well?

I think it depends on the player. He gives Hayes every opportunity to flourish, but was tough on JT Miller for a long time. Loves Fast. Hates McCilrath. Got fed up with Lindberg late last season after playing him for a long stretch.

So its tough to tell.

When he was coaching Vancouver, he had a reputation for not knowing how to break in young talent.

Zuccs will love feeding the puck to 2 shooters like Ziba and Miller.

He was injured dude

Curious if he wears #29. Been a minute since a Ranger of note wore that.

As for a third line of Vesey-Hayes-Buch.....:help::help::help::help::help: Holy Selke Batman that's a scary thought. I can see Fast or Grabner getting time on that line.

Remember, AV usually goes with duos.

Still expect a trade soon.

Please tell me this means there's no room for Glass...?

There's no room for Glass. What do I get for telling you this?

The top 4 LWs should be: Kreider, Miller, Vesey, Grabner with the top 3 RWs (Nash, MZA and Butcher) all able to play on the left side when needed.

:popcorn::shakehead

:shakehead of course yoU ARE LOL ,, i ONLY BREAK MORE RANGERS FA SIGNINGS AND TRADES THEN THE ENTIRE NY MEDIA COMBINED..GO LOOK AT THE PLAYERS I DO SIGNINGS WITH AND THE ONES ALL COMING UP LOL GUYS NEED A NEW TARGET TO HATE

So humble lmao...

I gotta say though, that 60/40 would probably be the most common out of the hat number a majority would've come up with, tbh... Hell, the second I saw what his agent had said about us I thought at the minimum 70/30. His comments alone should've at the very least put it at 60/40 for everybody... Just sayin...

Hasn't Hayes had enough problems without sticking him with Nash?

If he holds on to the puck as much in the NHL, he'll be in the minor leagues very quickly. He won't get away with this stuff in the AHL, much less the NHL. The video makes me think he becomes a turnover machine as a rookie unless he cuts this stuff by 90%.

Ummm, pretty sure he'll know the NHL is a bit, well, different... And like, they also have coaches who would help relay that to him, and stuff... Oh yeah, and teammates too... Oh, and training camp...
