I think they keep him all year, expose him, then waive him when Vegas doesn't take him.

Then he takes a PTO with the Rangers.

Yeah I hear his Dad keeps saying that the Rangers should take him and all will be right with the world!!
Tough when Kevin has 33 points so far this year and Jimmy has 3(mind you since Feb. of last season).

They can waive him, when he isn't claimed they can put him in Providence. and they'll have a smaller cap hit against their cap for one year.

(Isn't the number like 685,000? So the difference between his cap number and that total would be his cap hit while he plays in providence.)

The only reason for not doing this is if they need him to keep someone else from being exposed to Las Vegas in the expansion draft.

It is amazing how far his game has fallen though. Despite all the heat directed at him, he was a legit bottom six talent when he walked in the door. Sad to see. . .

It is too bad- I didn't hate the deal when it happened and there's no blame to Sweeney in my view either. Jimmy posted 17 and 19 goals in the two season prior to coming to the B's and if he had delivered in that neighborhood for us on a 3rd line with Beleskey (another guy who hasn't delivered) and whomever, we'd have had us a really nice line there.

Just leave him where he is. Watching from up above. After the season is over and alas Vegas does their thing, then decide on him.

They will save 925k minus whatever contract replaces him. Jimmy himself will actually make more money playing in the AHL

If they buy him out in the offseason:

2017-2018 cap hit $566,667
2018-2019 cap hit $866,667

If they send him to Providence next season:

2017-2018 cap hit $1,200,000 (cap hit of 2.6 million - $375,000 - $1,025,000)

As Pia said, and I've mentioned this before, Hayes would make more money in the AHL because there is no escrow in the AHL, so he could make 15% to 18% more depending on what they set escrow at.

Came across a www.sportsbreak.com story projecting the 20 man roster of the Vegas Golden Knights. And I was pleasantly surprised that the site has our man, Jimmy Dorchester, skating RW for the new franchise.

Can't put too much credibility in it, though, as it describes Hayes as big, tough and physical.

We can only hope.

Tough??! Haha, only if he was fighting a paper bag and I'd still put money on the paper bag

They should have added that he's a world-class cuddle buddy the way he hugs so tight when he fights.

The only team that would be stupid enough to give anything up for one of the worst players in the league with a cap hit of $2.3 million is the one that he currently plays for.

To be accurate, Hayes was given the generous $2.3 million 3-year contract by yours and mine Bruins GM, Don Sweeney, before he played a single game for Boston.

I swear, it's true.

Not often someone can make two terrible mistakes in a single swoop. But Donny Boy, he sure did.

Nineteen, twenty splitting hairs ,not gonna argue with you,he has sucked no doubt about that, but a young 6'5 player comming off a 19 goal season,I could see the attraction.

So if a guy has scored 29, he's basically a 30 goal scorer?

If you'd ever seen Hayes play before, you knew full well that his height and size has nothing to do with his game. He's the forward version of Hal Gill in that way.

I said 20 it was 19 my mistake. Like I said he has sucked, their were some flashes last season ,he scored 3 one game ,where he was using his size to bang in some goals. Why he can't do it on a nightly bases is the problem..Imagine that the potential must be why Tor,Chi,and Florida were interested in him.Who knows Maybee it was getting rid of the Savard contract that enticed Sweeney to make the deal.Sure if they put him on waivers he would still get picked up.

He is the forward version of Hal Gill as I've mentioned here before. Dude has the body to be a physical player instead he's soft as charmin
