im not surprised we outshot/chanced them. look at the difference in fwds and d. that's the milwaukee admirals with Matt Duchene and Tyson barrie basically, esp. after josi departed.

but we can't convert. you can cite puck luck but 2 years now this team has been an average finishing team 17th this year and 18th last year in SH% (all strengths). or if you're a proponent of measuring quality - GF vs xGF they're 23rd and 29th.

Pionk i know ended up being the hero. but man, his defensive game is just villainous to the team. and they want to preach accountability...... schmidt has been a fully capable 2nd pair defender w/ dillon. or swap the 2 pairs in TOI/responsibilities.

the PP....... i know it's customarily been pretty underwhelming the last little while. however, against this Preds team with this collection of skaters, seriously, i feel like we barely got a threatening chance on them.

anyway, NSH is basically going to be dependent on Saros. the group in front of them is not good enough imo to be a legit threat. Saros has been out-playing Helle over the last 2+ months, however i trust their team to score even less than ours.

That's ridiculous. If wins and losses were given proper weight this wouldn't even be a discussion.

Jets are 8 games above real 500 and the Flames are 7 below.

Try again
My main issue with complaining about loser points is that if things normalized the Jets would actually have fewer points and the Flames/Stars would have more. We've won more than you'd expect in overtime, they've lost more than you'd expect. I don't feel like 3v3 overtime wins should hold as much weight as they do and shootouts even less so.

Woof, look at that red in that sea of green.

Okay so I'm caught up.

Good pressure, some brutal passing.

What a wicked slapper from Ehlers.

Lowry with the full-on grapple for the FO "win" and a nice tip n' shovel.

Not great from the first OT pairing -- how can you be dominated by Duchene and Barrie for an entire OT shift?

Dubie then goes Full Lowry for the FO "win" and then says WTF I'll do it all myself and does, except that Pionk is there to spray the goalie and steal PLD's GWG.

Well, it's a win. Moar plz.

Also PionkWTF back with a vengeance.

Time to >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> send him to 3rd pairBeria.

Especially an afternoon game to an evening game. St. Louis is a short flight from Nashville. They will be in their hotel rooms by early evening. Have a nice supper and a good night sleep and Helly will be fine for tomorrow.
Have fun at the birthday party tonight, now everyone will be in even better moods with that win .

3 on 3 is a funny duck. It is all about getting possession. Once you get it just about any 3 players can dominate any other 3 players with that much ice. Possession only changes on giveaways and missed opportunities.

The thing with Connor imo.

All he does is score . He can’t play defence or make to many plays out of no where .

He just has a nose for the net .thats it

thags why he is struggling for so long. the only thing he has to get him out of a slump is a goal or two .

he doesn't hit and he cant play D.

he just needs a goal

Ehlers worked his way into some points with hard forechecks and back checks . Flying into guys and bouncing off. Forced himself into some good momentum.

Connor can’t do that

Sure but there must be something about them that makes you cranky and think that they're nonsense.
As Mark Twain famously said: "Facts are stubborn things, but statistics are pliable."

I think in this age of rapid consumption of content and novelty, people are creating more and bizarre statistical analysis that contradicts other analyses to the point of absurdity. Advanced stats essentially exist to advance a certain viewpoint or desired outcome when usually the most desired outcome is to create a statistic that other people will value and endorse so as to increase your own income or attention.

Many people will disagree and an argument ensues in which people proclaim their support for this or that statistic, thus achieving the objective of its creator.

And don't get me started on how little accuracy goes into the recording or compilation of so many statistics.
