Better team won tonight. We were too loose and their best players showed up. I said the priority was our PK and sadly we got destroyed SH.

Either way it’s one game turn the page and let’s clip them Thursday.

Ugh Wheeler and Connor are pissing this all away. Morrissey might as well show up, but he stunk all year, so no surprises. The D in general is just...

Embarrassing effort. Although neither of these teams are winning the cup... Might be better to get the draft pick. :(

I am still very surprised at how Connor and Wheeler are just mailing it in.

These are supposed to be 2 of our best players.

I wonder if he's mailing it in or if he really just can't generate any offense for himself.

I'm not sure which is preferable either...

At least if he is mailing it in then you can fix that, but it's not a good look to be mailing it in when the games finally matter. If he can't generate offense without a player of Scheifele's caliber then he's probably one of the best complementary players in the league, but that's a disappointingly low bar for a guy who probably would've put up 40G if we had a full season.

The reality might be somewhere in the middle, it's definitely isn't a situation where he's set up for optimal play, but he hasn't used his speed at all this series. If a scout watched him play for the first time against Calgary they'd never guess he's anywhere close to the same speed as Ehlers at top flight.

There’s no way Wheeler would mail it in!!

I should've been more clear, I don't think Wheeler is mailing it in. My post was specifically referring to Connor.

Wheeler's been going full tilt, he's just not been very effective.

So, even with the Flames first line somewhat quieted at 5v5, they caused their damage on the special teams (which certainly wasn't helped by some real tacky calls in favour of Calgary). It's like the Jets played the first period expecting to go on the power play, and didn't do anything meaningful until they did. That second period was an absolute disaster by everyone. Eakin can't wait to pack his bags and get out of Edmonton, and then Winnipeg again.

Funnily enough, series is still winnable if you play to your advantages. But honestly, why bother if you keep Eakin on that second line and watch your top two paid wingers drift around meaninglessly?

Because you spent to get him? I honestly have no idea. He's been brutal, and without Sawyer babbling on how about all the great vet craftiness he brings it's even more glaringly obvious.

That was a hellish game. I wish Spock was here to mind-meld with HFJ and erase it forever from our collective memory banks.

Wheeler is in his typical starts really slow at the start of the season mode, but unfortunately this isn't the start of the season but a "playoff" round.

I don’t think Connor is mailing it in. He’s not playing demonstrably different than he was during the season. He scores goals off of shots in the slot or a pass that frees him into space where his great hands make him a plus scorer in close. He doesn’t enter the zone with possession effectively and his passing/vision is average at absolute best so he doesn’t really create for his linemates. So when he doesn’t have someone putting him in position to score, he’s not going to do it himself.

Wheeler excited for game four. I’ll be excited if he shows up for game four

I'm not so sure I'd be excited about that. The Flames might be

EDIT: Kudos for the PGT title, OP. It helps with the bitter taste of a blowout.

KC has wicked hands but if people are waiting for him to drive play or take over they haven’t been watching him. Kyle is a complimentary asset.

Eakin is not an NHL caliber player anymore.

Pionk had an awful game.

The Jets cost themselves this game. No credit to Calgary here. You can't make defensive mistakes like they made and expect to win.
Eakin, Pionk, Helly..... All shite. And many more.
