Paul Maurice's game doesn't even work anymore. He's long past his tenure in Winnipeg, time for a new coach and one that fits the bill better.

I find he's the reason we're losing because he's probably the most predictable coach in the league, AKA the Subway Restaurants of coaches.

Thank god we didn’t prematurely sign him to an extensio............shit!

Helley was below average

Our team is injured and unrecognizable. Literally and figuratively (poolman)

Losing now in some wacky play in, instead of the actual playoffs is fine if we win first overall.

Sad thing is, we very likely won't

At this point take the high draft pick and fix our defense while acquiring toughness in the off season.

Realistically if we got by the Flames we are not good enough now to compete in the playoffs with key pieces missing and our holes in the line up.

Scary part is that if Stuart had been in the opening lineup tonight I would have been happy. Or Peluseless.

Depending on the player he replaced, it would have at least been a saw-off with more bruises dished out.

Flames first line is still super dangerous, but by god does the rest of that Flames lineup stink (except maybe the second line). It's super exploitable if you get the Jets' second line (and Eakin is not it). Special teams are still going to be something to be careful about - you can get CGY to take way more than they draw but you gotta keep some emotions under check (i.e. Ehlers, even if missing the hit and angry at Tkachuk's embellishment, should just let it go). Hellebuyck is playing well but hasn't had to steal games just yet, either.

I still see this series going either way (but still getting swept in the next round for either team).

So, even with the Flames first line somewhat quieted at 5v5, they caused their damage on the special teams (which certainly wasn't helped by some real tacky calls in favour of Calgary). It's like the Jets played the first period expecting to go on the power play, and didn't do anything meaningful until they did. That second period was an absolute disaster by everyone. Eakin can't wait to pack his bags and get out of Edmonton, and then Winnipeg again.

Funnily enough, series is still winnable if you play to your advantages. But honestly, why bother if you keep Eakin on that second line and watch your top two paid wingers drift around meaninglessly?

Shows how much of an impact 55 has on a line.
We've still got a really good core, we just need a couple of players to be contenders again. Little isn't hurt and Buff plays, it is a different story but shit happens.
I'd really like to see Chevy go all out and get a 1RHD to play with Morrissey. Pietrangelo would probably want too much term.

With the injuries we have it was always going to be tough. But when your two most highly paid forwards shit the bed you ain't winning.

Helle was a mere mortal tonight. He made a lot of his own problems tonight. He wasn't good enough.

Morrissey and DeMelo once again went out and did their jobs. Coming out ahead on the metrics. Morrissey held his matchups to only 4 shots on net tonight.

Pionk and Kuli got schooled by the Flames second line all game. Pionk was awful.

Third pair was fine.

Top line outside of Copp was crap, Pure crap.

Ehlers, Lowry had nice games. Harkins showed his inexperience. Roslovoc was handling the puck like a grenade again. Eakin is well a huge let down.

Maurice: I put special teams on coaching and our special teams have been crap. Some absolutely mind boggling personnel decisions. Beau in over JoMo on the PK. Putting Pionk in the PK in a game where he is struggling mightily. He wears our spexial teams performance.

In a series where we have kept the play at ES even despite our injuries it comes down to special teams and well just awful.

I think it's time to move Wheeler back into the middle, he just doesn't have the gas, coming off the layoff. Maybe put Roslovic up on that line to dig pucks. Roslovic isn't slick, but if you let him go after the puck, there's turnovers to be had. Connor is playing timid. Had one good chance I think.

Move Copp down with Ehlers.

Lowry's a driver, I'd love to see him with Apples, if he comes back and Harkins, 3 guys that go at it tenaciously.

Sbisa has to get in on the PK. He's a better trench guy than Boo Boo. I am not sure Morrissey can handle top PK minutes right now. He's getting pulverized, 25-30 minutes might be too much for him. I'd like to see him on the top PP, though. Pionk is struggling with confidence. Maybe just go with Kuli-Pionk on the 2nd PP.

Down to our last strike, hopefully we come back from the mat.

i erred..but with a full tam it wasnt a convincing win

I remember we played well

I think that is a pointless comparison though, it’s so long ago, and these teams today are basically two different teams

it’s like people saying the jets beat Calgary in some playoff series in the 80s. So, so Completely Different that there are 0 conclusions to draw beyond namesake. Different clubs, times, rules, refs, players, personnel, and completely different franchise as well

It’s not relevant to this group at this time

Tonight was a bad game, we are also very injured, and if there is anything positive to take let me put it this way....every loser from these opening rounds has a 12.5% chance to draft Lafreniere

Look at some of the western powerhouse teams, like Avs....do you legit think the jets or flames will beat them?

Would you rather the Jets or flames have a 12.5% chance at Lafreniere?
