I have mixed feelings about the win.

I'm glad that Scheif played well today and got 2 points. However, I think this team is still very lacking in offensive depth (I don't care if some people hate me here for saying this, but it's the truth).

I know it's sounds bad but I am hoping the Jets really tank this season just to land the up and coming phenom Connor McDavid.

I'd be pretty upset if we do that, considering McDavid isn't eligible for the 2014 draft...

Wouldn't we have to tank for 2 seasons then?

Coach Noel - Assessment of the game. Montoya’s game. Will he consider Montoya for Wednesday? What has he liked about Scheifele/Frolik/Halischuk? Building on the positives. Was it the best all around performance for his team? Team not folding/showing resilience. Importance of the win.

Back when I was a Leafs fan, I was always one to come to the defence of Raycroft when everyone else was down on him. I was wrong then and I see myself in the same situation now with Pavelec. He may be a good backup but I doubt he will ever be a starter on any NHL team if the Jets were to buy out his contract. I say start Monty and ride him while he's hot.

Your off by a year, McDavid is not draft eligible until 2015.

It was a great game to be at!

Scheifele was excellent and was passing the puck exceptionally well. Glad to see he was finally used on the half boards on the pp. I don't think its going to be that long now till he really breaks out.

Frolik was also very good again and is looking like a very good pick up.

I was really happy with Bogo's game tonight, he was really skating again and was just a rock defensively.

I really don't know what is wrong with you guys. The universe has not shifted overnight.

Fire Noel. Send Scheiffle down. Ebberle is garbage, cast off from a team on the ebb of their useful life. What is going on with you people?

What's this, about the 50th post you've made tonight of the same bit? It's good. You should take it on the road.

Good game jets! We scored more goals than we let in. Monty looked solid. On to Chicago!

I know. But the Jets could use a Sam Reinhart for next year.

While I don't mind Reinheart, I think he's probably the weakest forward to come along at the top of the draft lately. I would take Ekbland over him if we had the pick.

Why not?

He's a good #2 man.

Uh who's drooling over Montoya, we're just happy to have a capable goalie.

It's pretty clear that some people have a double standard to our goaltending. The same thing people will crucify Pavs over, they'll give Monty a pass. [mod] I mean, sure, the 2nd goal was a good hard shot with a small screen, but a handful of people also called out Pavs when he gave up that Subban one-timer which was MUCH more lethal than the one Monty gave up. Truth is, you would like your goalie to make those saves, but sometimes those will go in.

We've seen so little of Montoya, it's way to soon to get too excited about anything except for our play in front of him. That has been pretty good for the most part for the last 2 weeks or so and it finally resulted in a win.

The effort was very good, an 8 out of 10 for me. It dipped a bit in the second period but Montoya was... solid.

Highs and Lows:
- Montoya was good enough for another start in my book.

- Scheifele does indeed have good puck sense. As long as no opponents are within 20 feet of him, he can do some nice stuff with the puck.

- Buff. Pontentially worst game of the year. (I'm not just talking about tripping over the blueline)

- Defense. Did not look that good to me. Left too many Red Wings in front of Montoya...trouble breaking up Detroit's fantastic puck cycling ability.

- Jets showed FANTASTIC neutral zone play tonight. I never expected it, but that was the highlight for me. A lot worked out for the Jets tonight because they countered the Wings quite nicely in neutral zone.

- I don't like how often Wing players got second, third wacks at the puck on Montoya.... those bodies need to get moved more often.

- Ladd is a beaut. I don't know how often I just watched him in front of the opposition net taking a beating, over and over. This guys' work ethic is second to none.

Finally I just want to say I decided about halfway through the second period that the jets deserved the win. Monotoya may not be Mr.Right, but how can you deny he is Mr.Rightnow ?

I feel more convinced than ever we have very respectable talent, and when it's being used right, and highly motivated, it could be in the playoffs. This was not a case of super high level play from 2-3 people, this was a real collective effort.

The problem with Pav's is that he's had several seasons as a starting goalie to show some meaningful improvement. What's happened this year is that many (including a fair number of pavelec guys like myself) have started to realize that he isn't going to get any better, and unfortunately he isn't good enough.

Great game. I was worried it was one of those games that it didn't matter how good you were, couple bad goals and you lose.

Scheif was great. This is how I envisioned him this year on a line with Setoguchi and Kane, given them those passes all the time.

Montoya was pretty good. That second goal was a great shot, but if that was Pavs, people here would have been all over him.

I admit though, I won't mind giving him another start. He's slowly winnineg me over.

Philly isn't even close to Buffalo IMO.

Take a look at the Buffalo roster. Disregarding goalies, we have arguably 7 (SEVEN!!) players who would instantly be the Sabres' best player.

Oilers is just crap. They have no accountability, no defense, and it's just a mess. But their top players aren't that bad individually.

Flyers are underperforming from top to bottom. They may not be a playoff team, but they are nowhere close to Buffalo. The team is a mess, but they should be this bad, and I don't think it'll continue.

Florida, admittedly, is pretty damn awful. Their roster is almost as bad as the Sabres', but they don't have good goaltending. It's gonna be a battle between these two
