It's good that he played well, but the way people are talking, is like he's our savior or something.

Nope, no illusions here.

Still need a solid starter.

ETA: Hopefully Pavlec can find that je ne sais quoi because he's probably here for the foreseeable future.

I don't think that people think he's some vezina candidate or anything, but he played well tonight and it was nice to see after some subpar play by Ondrej Pavelec.

I don't get how we "know" that Montoya wouldn't be a capable starting goalie if we tried him. Nothing he's done so far seems inconsistent with being a solid starter. It seems as though players nowadays get pigeonholed from day one in some narrow category or other and that's that.

If the Jets had lost 2-1 the same people would be flaming him in this post game thread for allowing the second goal.

The biggest difference tonight is that the Jets didn't allow the same quality of scoring chances and that they managed to score some goals.

Duhhh, I wonder why :sarcasm:

As big a fan as I am of Pavs, I have to admit that Montoya has earned more of a 50-50 role until he unearns it. Good work ... for some reason Montoya keeps control of things better and the Jets' chaotic defensive lapses just don't get as much of an opportunity to develop.

Cousin with seasons gave me a pair tonight.

GREAT game to get to see. I spent a lot of time thinking that Schief is a smart smart guy with the puck out there, and later in the game it started to show up on the score sheet. He looked GOOD today.

I also thought Wheeler played really well, despite some people thinking otherwise.

He has definitely earned more starts and if he can carry on condo knows what will happen.

I'm just a little sceptical of the people thinking he is the solution to the team's problems. I don't think he is.

Just got home from the game. Glad I didn't give my ticket away! :)

The Halischuk, Frolic, Sheif line was excellent for the 2nd game in a row. Jokes had a solid game IMO. Montoya did what he had to. Play him Wed PLEASE. Fire Noel and trade Buff! Thanks.

I really don't know what is wrong with you guys. The universe has not shifted overnight.

Fire Noel. Send Scheiffle down. Ebberle is garbage, cast off from a team on the ebb of their useful life. What is going on with you people?

He played with Jokinen and Tangradi tonight, I'm not really surprised he didn't show up on the score sheet.

Scoring chance is a chance for scoring, and discussing those won't shine the light in Pavelec's favour....

You are right in the Jets doing better this game with limiting... this was their best game of the season for it.

However > avg sv% is always good in my books, win or lose, Montoya or Pavelec.

I'm not sure if the numbers support this, but it seemed like Tangradi-Jokinen-Wheeler did a pretty good job in the possession game. Thought there were lots of shots directed towards goal when they were on the ice.

I have mixed feelings about the win.

I'm glad that Scheif played well today and got 2 points. However, I think this team is still very lacking in offensive depth (I don't care if some people hate me here for saying this, but it's the truth).

The kid really does have very good offensive awareness and a quick stick. As the season goes on I see him playing a bigger and bigger role with this team. Noel certainly seemed happy with his play which bodes well for his ice time going forward.
