Out of all the higher rated Jets picks we had since drafting Mark Scheifele, there was not one comparable to how obvious it was that KV wasn't going to cut it. The closest I can think of was Lukas Sutter (#39th overall) - he wasn't even good enough to come close to a Jets uniform. I'd kind of put him in a different category.

I haven't thought of his name for years so I looked him up. Did you know he works as a NHL scout since 2019? Two years for the Blue Jackets and right now he works for the Sabres.

So I was browsing Elite Prospects some more and stumbled upon the DEL scoring table. And I wondered: Did you guys know how many former Jets/Atlanta prospects are playing in Germany right now? It's honestly crazy

I rememeber the days on this board when we thought Machacek was the solution to our forward woes after he had a few good games as a callup.

Another problem with KVes is that he didn’t process the game fast enough offensively at the NHL level. Maybe he had lost confidence by that point but he never flashed anything the times I watched him. He had a big shot but the dude could never find a way to generate shots. I tend to overvalue our prospects and he was one of the few exceptions where I watched him and thought…….this isn’t going to happen.

People here kept making the Armia comparison in his career arc due to his size, draft status and nationality but Armia is a bit of unicorn. Not many guys who are drafted high who grew up as being one of the most skilled guys in their peer group can pull off what Armia did in changing and completely fine tuning their game for the NHL level. Doesn't seem like KV had much interest or the type of skillset to go that route.

It's conference specific. Some decide they want shootouts and some don't, but for non-conference games there are no shootouts.

I think we have to be ready for that possibility. I would rather we don't draft anymore Russians for the time being. As a draft and develop team, the current risk is too high.

I'm not sure why Chibrikov wouldn't jump to come over first chance he gets, he seems buried in his team's system. My guess is the Jets will likely have to tell Rash he has the inside track for a spot to get him over given his play in the KHL.

Sucks for him, I feel for the kid as he just can't stay healthy. Any insight on if Lambert is healthy? He's missed a couple of games as well.

Apparently Lambert's expected to play on Saturday against Milwaukee. The way he seems to sit out kind of smells like load management to me but they've been listing him as day to day with an injury so

Plenty more examples of NCAA players not signing with their teams than there are of Russian players not being allowed to/not wanting to come over.

I was hoping to find the time to review Russian draft picks from the last two years. Wondering if any of them have come across to play in North America this fall. Specifically those who have never been here.

Russia plays fast and loose with it's conscription rules. Piss off the wrong oligarch and a player could easily find themselves fighting in Ukraine with a rusty WW2 era rifle.
