Yeah, Scheifele didn't sign his ELC until 4 days before the regular season. He had a pretty big fall compared to consensus rankings so I'm sure they're still arguing over some extra bonuses, especially if they think he'll be in the NHL and productive soon.

Could easily be neither. He's in limbo and trying to figure out what's the best fit for him for a year. Hell maybe Chevy doesn't want to sign him just yet in case he plummets and then the Jets would get another 2nd round pick out of it in the future. There's a million possible explanations and jumping to these conclusions just creates negative narratives around the player and situation.

Off to a sparkling start, 4-1 with a .931 SV% and a 1.65 GAA as an 18-year-old is nothing to scoff at. Will be interesting to see if he can maintain it.

He's no way near as good a skater as Tanev but is way more skilled than Lowry. I think of his upside as prime-Ladd.

Perfect. I have a ton of respect for Ladd. He gave us his best hockey and respectfully had outrageous demands preventing us from giving him any disastrous money that would have handcuffed our future. What a gentleman. Getting Laddy 2.0 would be tremendous.
