I know it’s super early, but Rutger McGroarty leading all his former teammates in points per game so far. Including Logan Cooley.

Look at U of Mich scoring. McG 5 pts in 3 games and he is 5th on that team.

I wouldn't mind coming 2nd in the draft lottery. Look at Fantilli. 7 pts in 3 games in NCAA and he only turned 18 a few days ago.

I'm glad he's producing, but I keep hoping for more. He's in his 21 YO season, and he turned 22 in October.
For comparison sake, Copp, Appleton and Foley (crazy that he hasn't played after that concussion) all turned pro after their 20 YO seasons.
Appleton and Foley were clearly the best players on their teams at that age, and led their teams in scoring too. Copp was 3rd in scoring on an absolutely stacked Michigan squad. Zach Hyman and Dylan Larkin scored more, but he outperformed the likes of Tyler Motte, Boo Nieces, Zach Werenski and JT Compher.
Nathan Smith is tracking closer to CJ Seuss.

Jesus, what the hell happened to Boston U lol. McGroarty and the Blue woke up and chose violence.

I usually come to this thread for prospect highlights but didn't see any after a pretty high end weekend for many of our prospects. Hopefully this thread becomes more active as the year progresses because I think we have multiple exciting prospects for the first time in about 5 years.

Here are some of the better ones I found on Twitter (PS. if you follow Dave Minuk on Twitter you don't need any of this, haha).

Chaz Lucius looks like he is quickly finding his way in the AHL. After training camp, I was a little down on this prospect.

We all expected this from Brad Lambert, but good to see his skill carry over to the AHL regular season.

Great to see Rutger's offense translate to the next level as well.

Elias Salomonsson got 2 goals last night. Now is the time to hit big on a mid-round D prospect, if we were ever going to. I think we will have a new core emerging in about 3 years for forwards and really need a couple Trouba/Morrissey types to emerge on defense.

He is more of a defensive dman, but the fact that he's adding offense AND he's RD? Very promising. The SHL is not a league to be trifled with, they recently got flocked with Swedish KHLers and other imports, so talent is high there. Excellent that he can produce in that league as a dman at 18.

Was he playing F instead of D? To me it looks strange to see a D-man in front of the net on those plays

You might be thinking of Cederholm or Lundmark, Salomonsson is definitely more offense than defense.

It's nice coming here and reading about the forward talent we have in the system. We should be able to build a real nice group around Perfetti in a few years. What I also like is the diversity of it. You have a couple of trigger man in Rash and Lucious with some size. You have a gritty all-around bull dog in Mgoarty and some speedy play pushers in Lambert and Chibrikov. Through in a guy like Zhilkin who has speed and a decent all around game and there are some real nice pieces.

Yeah, if we can retain Ehlers and Connor we can have a pretty good forward group in a few years.

Bedard, Rashevsky, Chibrikov, Perfetti, Lucius, Lambert, McGroarty, that’s a solid group to build around. And I still think Barron will develop into a good Swiss Army knife-type that we can plug in around our lineup. Our offence is kinda sketchy right now but help is on the way.

I see what you did there :p

3rd tier men's.

He might soon play his way up to 2nd tier. Not sarcastic.

I wonder if he has grown at all since the draft 2 years ago. He is still listed as 5'9, 154 on EP and even smaller according to HockeyDB. The 5'9 is OK if he has enough muscle on his frame to take the heavy going. Taller would be better too though, but another inch won't mean much.

Anton Johannesson with 3 more points through 2 periods today. Up to 8 in his 4th game.
Fun fact: before leaving for the US, I spent a couple of years working as a substitute teacher in Sweden, and on one of the assignments one of the students had the same name as the leading scorer for HC Dalen.

Not fun enough? Fine. I looked it up, cause he added me on Facebook after I finished my assignment, and it's the same kid.

Small world.
