I wouldn't be surprised to see major defections, then. Russia's economy is a train wreck...
Alex Ovechkin, meet your new neighbours... ;)

If it were academic it wouldn't have started in the middle of the semester.

It's possible that is exactly when it would have become an issue if he failed all his mid terms and his GPA dropped below 2.0 or it appeared that it would be below 2.0 by the end of the term.

There could have been a team imposed academic suspension until he gets his grades up or else it will turn into an NCAA imposed suspension if his GPA stays below 2.0 at the end of the term.

At least that is my understanding of how it works.

Rashevsky’s playoffs now over. Started the year in an explosive manner, but finishes at 35 points in 48 games + 3 points in 11 playoff games.

Lucius is done for the year. Zero information given beyond that.

Once the season is done Gopher fans will be on alert for he and his brother to bolt for the WHL or another school.

If it was an injury I see no reason why they wouldn't reveal if he's not gonna play the rest of the season, no risk of opponents targeting the injury if he is not playing this season again.

Portland Winterhawks drafted him, can he join them right away or does he have to wait until next season? Boucher went from NCAA to the 67’s recently mid season so if Lucius isn’t hurt, would make sense to join the Hawks right away to minimize any additional down time.

He could have joined them whenever.

The day of his first missed game, which was immediately suspicious with lack of info, Logan Cooley committed to the Gophers. I hypothesized the coaching staff brought in Cooley and wants Cruz Lucius to play a year of juniors and it's possible that ticked off the Lucius family. Maybe they're waiting to see if the younger Lucius can still come in next year. But the longer it took the less I felt that is what happened and now none of us have a clue what's going on.

If he joins them then he can't go back to the NCAA. He, his family and advisors are likely weighing their options right now. Real strange development.

Still a very good year for him. I have some hope we have a second line player here. I think one more year in the KHL before he comes over will be beneficial.

I would be concerned if Lucius went to the WHL. Doesn't seem to normally work out for players jumping from NCAA to CHL. Curious to see what comes of this.

As per Wiebe

Unfortunately for Lucius, he hasn’t played since Feb. 12, suffering a lower-body injury that will keep him out for the remainder of the season.

Not sure where he got that

I hope to God it's not his knee, he's had major issues with that already

It was listed back in February he was out with a LBI. But nothing since. Have to expect he had issues with his rebuilt knee.
