Barlow with 2 goals and 3 assists all in the 3rd period and OT. 3 points in the last 4 minutes in regulation to come back from 5-1 and then a primary assist on the game winner in OT.

Watching the 3rd period replay now and not sure how he got an assist on the tying goal. Definitely should be adjusted to him having 2-2. Man the Jets could use that one timer on the PP now lol.

Somebody mentioned Mike Richards once and I felt that was a pretty decent comparable.
People are not giving McGroarty enough credit with comparisons like that. He works hard and people see him as a leader so I see why people naturally want to compare him to Richards or Landeskog but his scoring ability is much better than either of those players.

He is scoring at a rate that is comparable to Kyle Connor in his year at Michigan. He is scoring at 1.82 ppg, while Connor was 1.87 ppg.

Rutger McGroarty has truly elite scoring ability on top of his other intangible abilities.

Mike Richards had a couple of years where he was close to a point per game player, and then fell off a cliff. He never came close to being a top scorer after getting traded to LA.

Because of well documented drug problems.
Where is this documentation of his drug problems other than getting found with some drugs at the border one time. Newsflash, cocaine and other recreational drugs are commonplace in the NHL. Many stars in the NHL do drugs and still score a lot of points.

Blaming his lack of scoring for almost half his career on drugs is a poor excuse.

What? Landeskog would be a phenomenal outcome. Point-per-game 2 way winger with leadership qualities?

He's a year older than Connor was which is huge, plus smaller sample size. I hate to detract from him at all, but McGroarty doesn't really have elite offensive skills so I'd be shocked to see him 100+ ever, personally. No Jet has scored 100 points since the return...

I mean, it's possible for somebody to drink and be fine and another person to drink and have it be a problem, because many do cocaine doesn't mean that none are addicted or that their game isn't affected by it. But regardless, when somebody compares McGroarty to Mike Richards they're not comparing him to when Mike Richards was bad, they're comparing him to when he was a dominant player in the league. Stylistically they're comparable players.

Anyone with an update on:

Garrett Brown

Defense -- shoots R
Born Apr 4 2004 -- San Jose, CA
[19 yrs. ago]
Height 6.02 -- Weight 195 [188 cm/88 kg]

Drafted by Winnipeg Jets
- round 4 #99 overall 2022 NHL Entry Draft
Plays with U Denver

I think he had surgery on an ankle injury that ended his season 6-8 weeks ago?

If you watch him play he feels like a guy whose offense will eventually come just from how active he is in every play. It hasn't actually translated into boxcar stats yet though, but he's been invited to somewhat recent Team USA camps so it's not just Jets scouts that see more in his game :dunno:

Mc Groarty is having a really solid year in College and should turn into a valuable core asset for us at some point. My guess is he will need at least one season playing full time on the Moose. Winnipeg has a very finely tuned defensive system for their forwards to execute now and Rutger will need to learn that side of the game before he makes the jump to the Jets IMO.
