How do the jets get their younger players into the lineup next year without letting vets walk. I can see schmidt getting bought out, but there is no way we get better by losing demelo of dillon. Up front lambo, chib, and mcgroarty will be knocking on the door, those guys are middle six players, I don’t see much room in the middle six, or expiring contracts for them to step into.

McGro is 1-2 years away... so ease lambery in as 4C i. 2024... then 2025-26 looks like
Ehlers-scheif-vilardi
Kfc-lambert-perfetti
Nino-lowry-barron
Ajf-kupari-chib

That could work next year. No way that McGroot spends two years in the A though. I think he would be ready next year if they were not already so deep. I guess with Schmidt getting bought out that makes a bit of space on D, its not so backlogged once he has moved on.

Maybe mcGro as 2C or 4C - if lambert and chib have chemistry I'd leave them together

One thing I worry about Chibs is how much patience he's going to have for staying in NA in the AHL if he isn't called up next season. I think he is the closest of making the NHL rosters out of those guys as he can fit in a checking line role but you gotta think they either have to give him a shot by next season at the latest.

Hopefully we have our spot in the standings solidified early and we can get some of these kids on the Moose some NHL games to see what they've got and rest some vets here and there

Chibrikovs development in the KHL was weird. IIRC he made his intentions clear that he wanted to be in North America ASAP. In Russia he was bounced from the equivalent of the AHL and ECHL.

I was concerned about this pick because of his usage in the Russian pro leagues. I was wrong ,happy he is here.

It is quite a conundrum...being an NHL GM is so hard these days.

Balancing contracts, CAP compliance and getting the best product on the ice without getting scorched by UFA's leaving or players demanding trades etc.

Just look at the forwards

2023-24 all healthy

Ehlers - Scheifele - Vilardi
Connors - Namestnikov - Perfetti
Nino - Lowry - Appleton
Iafallo - Kupari - Barron

Axel, Gus and Toninato as extras

Iafallo on the 4th line is nuts

Everyone signed next year (Perfetti and Gus RFA's)

2024-25 - big year

Chibrikov and Lambert pushing for jobs

Ehlers - Scheifele - Vilardi
Connors - Namestnikov - Perfetti
Nino - Lowry - Chibrikov
Iafallo - Lambert - Appleton

Barron, Kupari and Gus extras - Axel and Toninato waived

UFA contract year for Ehlers, Iafallo, Appleton, Namestnikov, Axel and Toninato

2025 - 26

McGroarty and Barlow pushing for jobs

Hopefully McGroarty signs in April and becomes an option for the Jets and Moose potential postseason runs
and before he considers playing out his four years to free agency, i would sign him asap

Barlow doesn’t play till 2026, sign ehlers this summer to 6 x 7.25 , let iafallo and apples walk to ufa, sign names, and kupari.

Apples is the cheaper Iafallo... but Barron and ajf might replace both

Barron deserves a spot on the roster moving forward... he's our new copp imo

I guess this is why I wouldn't lose.sleep about trading a top prospect for a proven nhl centreman for this window

Appeal of Russia isn’t what it was.

Can't go back for two more years without Jets' permission. Got jerked around a lot while he was there. Not overly concerned.
